But we need your support.   {NAME}, this week marks the tenth month of violent conflict in Sudan, which has displaced the largest number of children in the world (3 million). Yet, Sudan has become a forgotten crisis – the news isn’t covering this war. Support is waning despite the fact that every day, the number of refugees fleeing to neighboring countries increases. Of the more than 542,000 refugees in Chad alone, 87% are women and children with harrowing stories of near death and survival. Mariam* traveled barefoot for three weeks after her village was burnt down and her family’s belongings were looted. As they fled their home, one of her daughters was shot and injured. Another daughter died of illness. “We have nothing,” she says. Aid in Sudan is challenging. But we are operational. We will not give up. CARE has supported 40 percent of all people supported by NGOs in Sudan – and we will continue doing so. Just last month, in the town of Nyala in South Darfur, CARE was able to reopen its malnutrition center, the only facility serving malnourished children in town. Your support is critical to keep these lifesaving programs operational. For women like Mariam, their lives may depend on it. [Please give now.]( – Sheridan Marfil, CARE   *Mariam – Name changed to protect identity   --------- 151 Ellis Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30303-2420 CARE works around the globe to save lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice.
