[CARE](
[Supporting and empowering 1,153,922 Afghans women, children, and men through crisis and challenge as they build their own futures.](
See how your support stands with women and girls bravely finding the power to build their own futures despite the challenges that disproportionately affect them. Here are 4 key areas of your impact since July 1, 2022:
1. Emergency Aid
[296,438 individuals directly reached]( Emergency cash, livelihood support, and gender-based violence interventions have helped women protect themselves and care for their families during times of crisis and emergency. In the last year, more than half of the individuals directly reached were women.
2. Resilience building
[57,786 individuals impacted]( Building womenâs resilience and the ability to provide for their families is vital to their survival and future. In Afghanistan, CARE programs support womenâs social and economic empowerment, financial inclusion, food security, livelihoods, and more. Pictured above: Before they received 40 chickens and training from CARE, there were days when Sherbano and her children did not eat at all. But now, they have eggs she can feed her family and sell for income – helping them with daily expenses and supporting women like her in the agriculture value chain.
3. Girls' education
[27,421 girl students reached]( Since March 2022, secondary school-aged girls have not been allowed to attend school. CAREâs community-based approaches, especially in remote areas, are helping girls and boys learn in safe, inspiring, and culturally appropriate environments. Pictured above: Taalah*, age 14: âI liked coming here because of the quality of the teaching and the kindness of my teacher. Itâs my wish that I complete the class to the end and then join formal education. I want to be a doctor when I grow up.â
4. Health
[767,016 individuals reached (71% women and girts)]( Women face disproportionate challenges to accessing health services, such as distance to health clinics, inability to afford transportation, and a lack of female doctors. CARE Mobile Health Teams travel every day to remote areas to deliver lifesaving and free health services. Pictured above: A mother receives treatment for malnutrition for her young child. CARE first established work in Afghanistan in 1961. We remain committed to helping women, girls, and families live dignified lives and futures. âMy hope for girls in Afghanistan is that they can continue their education and that they donât have to be dependent on others. That they can earn their own income.â – Taalah*, age 14, a student in CAREâs community-based learning program *Name changed [-----------------](
