She and her husband used to have 50 cows and 30 goats and could sell and buy what they needed for their growing family. But there hasn’t been enough rain in Somalia in two years. “We ran out of water and pasture. It was sad seeing all our livestock dying right in front of our eyes. We lost everything to this drought,” says Amina.   “Sometimes my children go to bed hungry as I have nothing to give them… we don’t even know what our next meal is going to be and when we will have it.”   [3X MATCH — GIVE NOW »](   When the last of their livestock died, life became unbearable. Amina made one of the hardest choices a mother can, to leave “so that my children can have a better life.” Amina was nine months pregnant when she walked over 60 miles with her six children to a displacement camp. After 11 days, they reached a camp for internally displaced people (IDP). CARE is in 51 IDP camps like this one. We’ve already reached more than 62,000 people – more than half are women – with nutrition, education, health support, and cash vouchers. But so many more need support.
