For many, especially women protecting themselves and their children, our work is vital to their survival and dignity.   [Map showing areas of interest in Sudan](   1. East Darfur   [Group of women cleaning vegetables after harvest](   In regions like East Darfur, CARE supports over 5,000 women with seed, farm inputs, fertilizer, and animal husbandry. We continue to provide clean drinking water to thousands of refugees and host communities — mainly women and children.   2. Gadarif  [Local aid worker checking on a baby](   We are working around the clock to ensure that refugees in the region – mostly women and children – have access to adequate water and hygiene items such as soap. Humanitarian aid workers continue to construct latrines so women have safe, private, dignifying sanitation spaces.   3. Kassala  [Young mothers and children in a waiting room, getting seen to by a nurse](   CARE’s office in Kassala, now reopened, has reached 29,080 people with nutrition services, medical consultations and treatment, and water access from a freshly rehabilitated water yard.   4. South Kordofan   Our office in South Kordofan reopened to continue its lifesaving health, nutrition and water, sanitation, and hygiene work where it can.     CARE has operated in Sudan since 1979 and will continue to support the resilience and lives of women, girls, and families.   “We will not leave them behind.” – *Sara, a health expert with CARE in Sudan, states as CARE continues to provide essential services, despite heavy fighting   [Give now.](   [Facebook]( [Instagram]( [Twitter](   Text CARE to 227387 to receive SMS updates about your impact around the world.
