In displacement camps across the country, a widow’s survival relies on her daily resilience. And her children’s future depends on her.   In Syria’s so-called “widow camps” – where tens of thousands of single women and mothers live…   • 80% of women say they do not have adequate healthcare.   • 1 in 4 women in these camps have witnessed sexual abuse in the camp regularly.   • 58% of boys and 49% of girls are forced to work starting at age 11.   [GIVE NOW](   Noura*, a mother of two in a camp in northeast Syria, lost her husband when she was eight months pregnant. While she was in labor, her village was bombed. She couldn’t return home with her newborn and toddler. They stayed with her parents for a while, but Noura felt unsafe. “Our society has no mercy on widows. I often have trouble sleeping because I am so incredibly afraid that they will take my children and force me to marry someone else.” She moved her family to a displacement camp to ensure that no matter what, they would be together – her children would have their mother. She spends every day looking for a job to provide for her children.   [I want to see my children grow up and have a better life](   Across Syria, including areas hit hard by the earthquakes, CARE strengthens women's resilience to provide for their families. Support like food security, livelihood opportunities, maternal health, and cash assistance help women overcome the steep price of war – widespread poverty. When Noura received [cash assistance]( CARE, she said, “It felt so good to finally have enough money to buy food for my children.”   Every mother deserves the dignity of being able to feed and protect her children.
