[Give an emergency gift that provides food baskets, child survival kits, hygiene kits, and temporary shelter — Give now »](   [GIVE NOW](   [View online »](   [CARE | Emergency Update](   Flooding in Pakistan - Situation Update   [In the next month, 73,000 pregnant women in flood-affected areas are expected to give birth](   [GIVE NOW](   Two weeks ago, at 2 AM in the morning, Zarbano (pictured above) went into labor. Her husband tried to get a motorbike to take her to the health facility, but he never found one with enough fuel. Zarbano bravely gave birth in a tent on the road, where her family of nine have been living since the floods destroyed their home, crops, and livelihood. Neither she nor her baby has had any medical attention. She is in pain and has trouble walking to the field when she needs to use the bathroom. There is no food or means of work. But the needs of her children come first and she is determined to give them a future different from today.   Here’s what else:   - Shelter needs are multiplying daily. Nearly 1.7 million houses have been partially or fully damaged. - Whole communities have no access to food. An estimated 3.6 million acres of crops have been affected. - Families are running out of money. Household savings have been almost depleted. Needs are increasing while there is no work available. - Thousands of children are out of school. At least 18,590 schools have been damaged, with at least 2,800 school buildings reportedly collapsed. - High risk of infection and disease: Thousands of infections and diseases are being reported every day within a health system that was at its limits before flooding.   Your emergency gift to CARE’s crisis response in Pakistan multiplies our impact now and in the coming months as people rebuild what they’ve lost.
