CakeFest 2020 - Looking For Speakers! CakePHP 4 Strawberry [View this email in your browser]( CALLING ALL SPEAKERS! We are now accepting submissions for talks. Please submit by July 31st. Details [HERE](. (Virtual) CakeFest is open for sponsors! Interested in being involved? Contact us [HERE](mailto:cakefest@cakephp.org?subject=Sponsorship%20Information). CakePHP 4.1.0 Released! What’s new in 4.1.0? The [migration guide]( has a complete list of what’s new in 4.1.0. We recommend you give that page a read when upgrading. A few highlights from 4.1.0 are: - Support for Common Table Expressions (CTE) in the ORM. - Support for window functions in the ORM. - Query::orderAsc() and Query::orderDesc() now accept Closure’s as their field enabling you to use build complex order expressions with the provided QueryExpression object. - debug() and Debugger::printVar() now emit HTML in web contexts, and ANSI styled output in CLI contexts. Output of cyclic structures and repeated objects is much simpler. Cyclic objects are only dumped once and use reference ids to point back to the full value. - CsrfProtectionMiddleware can now create cookies with the samesite attribute set. - Log messages can now contain {foo} style placeholders. These placeholders will be replaced by values from the $context parameter if available. OTHER NEWS: Our next training session will be held on 8/13. The main idea is to provide fixture factories in replacement to the fixtures you can find out of the box in CakePHP. The CakePHP Fixture Factories plugin - increases the speed of your tests, - reduces the effort of writing and maintaining tests, - enhances the readability of your tests: you get what you seed in your test, tests do not share test fixtures, - offers to manage your test DB schema with the same migrations you use on your regular DB. You will never have to create, maintain or declare any test fixtures again. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
