I don’t use masking tape very often (or painter’s tape, which is just a specialized variety of masking tape), but there are certain tasks you just can’t use any other tape for. Painting a room is the most obvious one—I wouldn't want to use duct tape to tape off my trim—but there are plenty of other [practical uses for masking tape]( too. But because I use it infrequently, any roll of masking tape in the house faces the same threat as everything else in our arid climate: drying out.
