February 28, 2023 [View Online]( TOGETHER WITH [The Pour Over]( Good morning! No one likes dusting, and that’s according to both the results of past newsletter polls and, you know, the laws of nature. And while this chore may never be fun, there are ways to make dusting easier for yourself, and I’m sharing 14 of them in Today’s Good Thing. And in a new Tech Tip Tuesday, we’ll take a look at a feature of the Google Maps app that I only learned about very recently. Find out what the Timeline feature does and learn how to turn it on (or off) below. The Pour Over has two main goals: to keep you informed about the day’s biggest news, and keep your focus on Christ and the big (eternal) picture. Like other email news sources, The Pour Over provides concise summaries of the world’s biggest news. TECH TIP TUESDAY Oh, The Places You’ve Gone: Your Google Maps Timeline [An image of smartphone screens displaying the settings for Timeline in Google Maps.]( Whether you think it’s cool or creepy, you should be aware of this feature either way. Compared to other aspects of digital privacy, location tracking is—understandably—frequently painted in a negative light. After all, you’d think it was creepy if you found out someone was keeping tabs on your location, so you might feel similarly about your phone. But location tracking can be useful too, and the Timeline feature in the Google Maps app is one intriguing example. When enabled, Timeline keeps track of places you’ve gone and details about your visits. Over time, your Timeline can tell you about places you visited on vacation, movies you’ve seen in theaters, visits to your favorite restaurants, and even stats like how long you spend in museums. It’s sort of like a travel journal that writes itself! (With that being said, I can also see why some people may not want this feature enabled.) How to enable or disable Timeline in the Google Maps app: Open Google Maps, tap your profile in the upper-right corner of the screen, then tap Your timeline. In order to use Timeline, you need to: 1. Enable Location History in your Google account settings. 2. Enable Location Services on your device. 3. Set Location Access for Google Maps to Always (as opposed to Never or While Using the App). Use these three settings to enable or disable the Timeline feature as you see fit. For more information, check out the helpful [Timeline page at Google Maps Help](.
