[Read more ➜]( MONDAY MOTIVATION Acknowledge Death And Savor Life Life and death are two sides of the same coin—you don’t get one without the other. We all know we’re going to die one day, but as social creatures, we may have an easier time accepting our own mortality than accepting the fate that awaits the people we love. But refusing to acknowledge that your time with your loved ones is finite doesn't do anyone any favors. Treating your loved ones like permanent fixtures may be comforting in the moment, but it will only make future losses more difficult to bear. Choosing to ignore our mortality is short-sighted, especially given how unpredictable death can be. As I reflect on people in my life who passed away suddenly or unexpectedly—the wife of a colleague with 5 young kids, our longtime neighbor and friend, my own sister-in-law—I’m reminded how fragile, and thus precious, life is. But there’s a silver lining here—if we accept that our time with our loved ones is limited, we can choose to make the most of that time. Reckoning with death can be difficult, but the perspective it gives you can lead to deeper, more fulfilling relationships in life. Death is a bridge we’ll all cross eventually, but you haven’t come to it just yet. Life is for the living, and if you spend yours cherishing your loved ones, you’ll leave no room for regret.
