We buy small appliances to save ourselves time and energy in the kitchen, but we all have our own ways of deciding when to use them. Personally, the more pieces an appliance has, the more likely I am to reserve for it tasks I can't accomplish by any other means. My food processor is one appliance I prefer to keep in the cupboard if I can perform the task at hand with another tool.
