The organizing tips in Today's Good Thing will help you conquer clutter in 7 "hot spots" and make a meaningful impact with minimal effort. In a new Monday Motivation, I’m exploring something we all struggle with throughout our lives: insecurities. They may not vanish at a certain age, but we can learn to leave them behind. [Read more ➜]( MONDAY MOTIVATION Don't Let Stories Feed Your Insecurities I still sometimes feel like I’m a square peg trying to fit myself into a round hole, because we never really outgrow the desire to feel like we belong. Worrying about what others think of us is only human, and it’s not reserved exclusively for young people. But we aren’t doomed to carry our insecurities forever, either. Feelings of insecurity arise from an assumption that we're all measuring each other against the same rubric. If another person thinks we're strange, ugly, or not good enough in some way, we often accept it both as truth and confirmation of our worst fears about ourselves. But there isn't a rubric that can tell us who we “should be,” and there’s nothing inherently wrong with us either. Unfortunately, not everyone may agree, because we can't control how other people see us. We can only control how we see ourselves, and learning to accept what we see in ourselves is how we overcome insecurity. Remind yourself that the judgments you make about yourself and others are just stories, and not every story is true. Practice observing your thoughts and feelings, and resist the urge to provide additional commentary about them. As you learn to let go of your own stories, you'll find it easier to let go of others’ too. While it's been celebrated since the 16th century, the timing of Canada's Thanksgiving holiday varied until 1957, when Parliament established it would fall on the second Monday in October to coincide with Canadian harvests. More To Celebrate: Here in the U.S., today is both Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples’ Day. Columbus Day commemorates Christopher Columbus landing in the Americas in 1492, while Indigenous Peoples’ Day is an alternative celebration honoring the history and cultures of Native Americans. 🤔 Wordle: [Solve today's 5-letter word](.
