Here’s a quick way to find out. Whether you’re a world traveler or simply reading the news, it’s not uncommon to come across references to a foreign currency. But it's quick and easy to convert currencies using your smartphone to get a better understanding of how much things are worth. Bring up the Spotlight search bar—in the new iOS 16, you can do it by tapping the small Search button near the bottom of your Home screen. In the search bar, type in the amount and currency along with the currency you want to convert it to, and the result will pop right up. Knowing the “alpha codes” of common currencies will make this process even faster: • USD - United States dollar • EUR - Euro • JPY - Japanese yen • GBP - Sterling (British pound) • AUD - Australian dollar • CAD - Canadian dollar For example, if you wanted to know how much 20 Australian dollars is worth in American dollars, you could search “20 AUD in USD,” and you'd learn that the answer is just over $13.
