Jillee TODAY'S GOOD THING This One Simple Cleaning DIY Has So Many Benefits [Photos of homemade cleaning wipes.]( Cheap, effective, infinitely reusableâthereâs a lot to love about these cleaning wipes. Iâm all for convenience, but itâs not the only factor worth considering when youâre choosing cleaning supplies. For instance, store-bought cleaning wipes are very convenient, but they create a lot of waste and can also be quite expensive if you use them for most day-to-day cleaning tasks. Luckily, this is one store-bought product for which Iâve found a great homemade alternative. But what sets this alternative apart from others Iâve shared is that it isnât just a suitable replacementâitâs superior to its store-bought counterpart in nearly every way. Iâll be showing you how to make those homemade cleaning wipes today, plus going into detail about the various benefits they offer. The actual tutorial is quick and easy tooâyouâll only need three ingredients, a mason jar, and a stack of cloths or rags. One of my favorite things about these wipes is that once theyâre all dirty, you can just toss them in your washer and reuse them to make a fresh batch. No trips to the store, no waste, and more money in your pocket. Get all the details at the link below, and find out why these wipes have proven to be one the best cleaning DIYs in my arsenal. Instead of speeding ahead and braking hard, improve your gas mileage by accelerating gently and coasting toward red lights, stop signs, and stopped cars. (Adopting safe driving habits can help you save on car insurance and repairs too!) CLEANING Make Your Own Windshield Washer Fluid [Photos of homemade windshield washer fluid.]( Fresh out of washer fluid? Save yourself a trip to the store by making your own at home. If youâve been driving a lot this summer, youâve probably been using a lot of washer fluid. Bug splatters, unfortunately, donât remove themselves! If youâd rather avoid the trip to AutoZone every other week, use this simple recipe to make your next batch of washer fluid at home. Hereâs how to do it: Open a gallon of distilled water, then pour out just over 1 cup of water and set it aside to use elsewhere. Next, add 1 tablespoon of Dawn dish soap and 1 cup of rubbing alcohol (90% or higher will work best) to the jug of water. Replace the lid, then gently tip the container side to side to mix the soap and rubbing alcohol with the water. At that point, your washer fluid will be ready to pour into your car's windshield washer fluid reservoir. [See the full tutorial â]( STAY SAFE OUT THERE The Dark Side Of PAC Fundraising [A photo of a phone screen displaying the word ]( Be sure to ask questions if you get a call from a fundraiser touting a worthy cause. When you give money to a worthy cause, you expect it to go toward that cause. But for victims of a popular fundraising scheme, donations they thought would help firefighters or veterans were actually being used to fund a political action committee, or PAC. Tax-exempt non-profits have to follow certain rules about how they use donations, but PACs arenât subject to the same types of rules or oversight. By exploiting the gray area between telemarketing and political fundraising, so-called "scam PACs" can raise a lot of money by misleading donors about how their donation will be used. Where legitimate PACs use most of the funds they raise to support specific candidates and causes, scam PACs use the majority of their funds to cover their own costs and line their own pockets. While scam PACs likely represent a small percentage of PACs overall, prosecutors have found it difficult to prove that scam PACs are guilty of fraud. That means if you unwittingly give money to a scam PAC, thereâs little chance of getting it back. If you get a fundraising call for a political or charitable cause, make sure to ask for the name of their organization so you can check it out online, and ask how your donation would be used too. If the caller pressures you or doesnât provide satisfactory answers, you can always exercise your right to hang up. MONDAY MOTIVATION Appearances Arenât Everything When we encounter flawless photos of beautiful people online, we donât usually think about how much work the people are putting into their appearance, nor how the photos might have been edited. Instead, we zero in on their smooth skin, white teeth, and thin figure, and often feel terrible about ourselves as a result. But when we evaluate our own appearance against those flawless photos, we're making an extremely unfair comparison. Itâs like going bowling with your friends and comparing your score to the scores from a pro bowling tournament. Could you match those pro scores if you spent a fortune on coaching and gear and devoted all of your time to bowling? Probably! The same applies to physical attractivenessâif you had unlimited time and money to invest in your looks (not to mention lighting and photo editing), you could look as flawless as anyone in photos! But is it worth the effort? It might be nice to feel like you're among the most attractive and desirable people on social media, but beauty isnât the only thing worth having or pursuing. Loving relationships, a comfortable home, and a meaningful life are all very desirable too, and they're more important in the long run. The next time you start feeling down about your appearance, take a moment to remember that youâre not competing in the beauty olympics. Being attractive is far from the most important thing in life, and our inner critics could use the occasional reminder. A FEW MORE THINGS... How Does Your Garden Grow?
