If you’re someone who likes to keep a clean house—and I think it’s safe to assume you are, given the nature of this newsletter—you know the value of a good cleaning tool. In Today’s Good Thing, I’ll present my case for microfiber cloths being the best cleaning tool breakthrough in decades. During the early years of my blogging career, I realized that I couldn't continue to rely on disposable cleaning products due to how much waste they generated. Paper towels were clearly one of the worst offenders, so they were one of the first things to go. My search for a reusable alternative to paper towels eventually led to my introduction to microfiber cloths. The structure of its super-fine fibers makes microfiber highly absorbent and excellent at picking up dirt, whether used with a cleaning solution or plain water. Thanks to innovative features like these, I was soon using microfiber cloths to clean my home more easily and effectively than ever. When it came to waste, cost, absorbency, and efficiency, microfiber cloths beat paper towels in every regard. That isn’t to say that microfiber cloths are perfect or have no flaws of their own. But for me, the positives drastically outweigh the negatives, especially once you factor in their many benefits and uses around the house.
