PLUS: A brilliant storage hack for tall boots, why it’s smart to wash sports bras in the shower, and more. January 26, 2022 [View Online]( Good morning! While I do use my microfiber cloths for everyday tasks like wiping down countertops and drying off dishes, I use them for a lot of other things too. I’m sharing 7 of these less conventional (though no less practical) uses for microfiber cloths in Today’s Good Thing. It’s also Wash It Wednesday, which means I’ve got another laundry tip in store for you. Find out why the best place to wash a sports bra isn’t your washing machine or even your sink, and where to wash it instead. Jillee TODAY'S GOOD THING 7 Unexpected Ways To Use Microfiber Cloths [Photos of various uses for microfiber cloths.]( They can do far more than just wipe down counters—here are 7 other uses for microfiber cloths. 1. Wash Your Face. You can use a damp microfiber cloth with or without a cleanser to remove your makeup and clean your skin. Just dampen a [microfiber makeup remover cloth]( and use it to gently wipe away dirt and makeup while gently exfoliating your skin. 2. Remove Stains. Use a wet [microfiber cleaning cloth]( as the first line of defense against stains on upholstery, carpet, and clothing. Just dab at the stain with your wet cloth to lift it out of the material. If you get to the spill right away, your damp microfiber cloth may be the only tool you need to remove the evidence completely. 3. Shine Your Floors. If you have hard floors, you haven’t seen them shine until you’ve cleaned them with microfiber. Whether you attach a microfiber cloth to the bottom of a Swiffer-type sweeper or use a dedicated microfiber mop, the microfiber will wipe up grime, removes residues, and leave floors extra shiny. 4. Clean Your Baseboards. Microfiber cloths are the perfect tool for cleaning your baseboards. The super absorbent cloths make short work of stubborn dust and grime that collects on baseboards over time. Just wipe down your baseboards with a damp microfiber cloth, rinsing your cloth out periodically. 5. Keep Your Car Clean. Keep a few microfiber cloths in your glove box to clean up spilled coffee, dust your dashboard, or wipe that grimy film off the inside of your windshield. They also come in handy for washing and drying car exteriors, leaving glass sparkling clean and your car’s paint and finish undamaged. When it comes to washing your workout clothes, the sooner you clean them, the better off you’ll be. This is particularly true of bras and underwear, because they sit against your skin and absorb more moisture than your other clothes. The longer you wait to wash them, the more bacterial growth can occur and create unpleasant odors. And since you’re already jumping in the shower after your workout, the simplest solution is to take your sports bra in there with you. Not only will you get rid of any pesky odor-causing bacteria, but you’ll also keep your sports bra in better condition by hand washing rather than tossing it in your washer with the rest of your laundry. You’ll only need a small amount of gentle detergent, which you can dab onto your bra before you get in the shower, or you could bring a bar of Fels-Naptha laundry soap into the shower and apply it to your bra there. Then just lather it up, rinse it thoroughly, gently squeeze out any excess water, and hang it up to dry. BEAUTY Support Your Tall Boots With A Pool Toy [A photo of tall boots with pieces of pool noodle inside them.]( Want to keep your favorite pair of boots standing tall to avoid creases? Use your noodle. Years ago, and after weeks of deliberation, I finally decided to get the [Frye riding boots]( I had been coveting for some time. And while I’ve never regretted the decision—they remain the most comfortable and durable boots I own to this day—it wasn't long after I bought them that I realized I had a problem on my hands. The upper part of each boot wasn’t sturdy enough to stay upright on its own, and I was concerned that if I left them forlornly flopped over that they would eventually become permanently creased. (Having just talked myself into buying the boots by resolving to take excellent care of them, the threat of creases felt very dire indeed!) Lucky for me, Pinterest provided a perfectly brilliant and simple answer: a foam noodle. (Yep, the same one kids love to play with—or fight with, if they're my kids—at the pool.) I just cut two pieces of the noodle that matched the height of my boots, slipped one into each, and they’ve been standing tall ever since! JILLEE'S PICK I Rest My (Lipstick) Case [A photo of SenseYo Floral Lipstick Cases.]( It’s often said that it’s the little things in life that mean the most, and I try to recognize those moments when something small brings me joy whenever I can. Life's too short not to appreciate them, even if no one else really seems to "get it." One of the little things making me happy these days are [these little lipstick cases]( that I got in a 4-pack on Amazon for $9. I was looking for a case that would protect my lipstick when it’s in my purse (and protect the bag from the lipstick, of course), and when I saw these cute floral cases, it was love at first sight. Each case has a small mirror inside it, which is very useful for touch ups, and I like the firm click that the snap makes when I close it. It may be a relatively minor item in the grand scheme of things, but it’s not every day you buy something that performs its job well and fills you with inexplicable joy, right? [See SenseYo Floral Lipstick Cases on Amazon ➜]( WHAT IN THE WORLD WIDE WEB Soup’s On… Or Is It? [A photo of the CAMP x Campbell's Chicken Noodle Soup Candle and Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese Candle.]( “Mmm,” you think as you walk into a friend’s house, “Is someone making chicken noodle soup?” Your stomach rumbles at the idea of tucking into a warm bowl of soup, but then you spot it. It wasn’t a simmering pot of chicken noodle soup you were smelling—it was the aroma of a flickering chicken noodle soup-scented candle. That candle exists, by the way, as a result of a recent collaboration between Campbell's and CAMP, an NYC-based toy store chain. The [CAMP x Campbell’s collaboration]( produced two soup-scented candles, Chicken Noodle Soup and Tomato Soup with Grilled Cheese, as well as a winter activity guide for parents and kids. The candles alone would be more than enough to warrant a “Wait… what?” But that’s not all. Both of the $24 limited-edition soup candles, which were just announced on January 12, are already sold out. I guess the rest of us will have to enjoy the savory scents of our favorite soups the old fashioned way—by actually making soup. A FEW MORE THINGS... Celebrating Spouses: It’s National Spouses Day, a holiday that’s all about celebrating your better half. Our spouses are our teammates, business partners, sous chefs, co-parents, copilots, and best friends, and while marriage isn’t easy by any means, knowing that your spouse has your back makes it worth the work. Let your spouse know how much you love and appreciate them today. Australia Day: Happy [Australia Day]( to my friends down under! The official national day of Australia occurs on the anniversary of the [First Fleet landing in Sydney Cove]( in 1788, and modern celebrations highlight Australia’s cultural diversity. Festivities usually include fireworks shows, family gatherings, barbecues, and the announcement of various awards, including Australian of the Year. What did you think of today's email?
