PLUS: This crazy simple weeknight meal is a hit with everyone. August 14, 2021 [View Online]( Good morning! You donât need traditional store-bought air fresheners to have a nice smelling home. In fact, you can make your own air freshener spray using natural ingredients and customize it with any scent you like. Find out how easy it is to do in Todayâs Good Thing. And in Cooking, Iâm sharing a great weeknight (or any night) recipe for you thatâs guaranteed to be a hit with the whole family. And donât be surprised if it ends up in your regular rotation too! Jillee TODAY'S GOOD THING Spray Your Way To A Fresher Smelling Home [Photos of Jillee spraying her air freshener spray.]( Customize this super simple spray with your favorite scents to freshen the air and much more. Whether I think a room could use some freshening up or I just want to enjoy the aroma of one of my favorite essential oils, I typically reach for my diffuser. But for those who don't have or want a diffuser, that's hardly the only way you can take advantage of the air freshening capabilities of essential oils. Another easy option is to make a simple air freshener spray. With just essential oils, a little distilled water, and an emulsifier like witch hazel or rubbing alcohol, you can mix up a simple spray that will freshen the air and allow you to enjoy the natural aromas without any additional equipment. Hereâs how to make it: Add 6 tablespoons of distilled water, 2 tablespoons of witch hazel or rubbing alcohol, and 20 drops of your [essential oil(s)]( of choice to a [small glass spray bottle](. Replace the spray top on the bottle and give it a good shake to mix it all together. Use your air freshener spray to freshen up your guest room before hosting visitors, on drapes and upholstery, in your bathrooms, in your closet to refresh stale-smelling clothes, and wherever else you want. Fans of hard shell ground beef tacos (which [arenât as wholly American as many assume]( are sure to love baked tacos, an oven-baked variation you assemble and bake to crispy, cheesy perfection. While you can make them with store-bought taco shells, I suggest making your ownâit's surprisingly easy to do, and I personally prefer their flavor and texture. To make hard taco shells, wrap a stack of corn tortillas in a damp cloth, microwave for 30 seconds, then spray both sides of each tortilla with cooking spray. Drape each tortilla over two bars of your oven rack (creating that fillable U-shape) and bake them at 375°F for 7-10 minutes or until browned and crispy. Repeat until you have 15-20 taco shells ready to go. Here's how to turn those taco shells into baked taco goodness: Brown 2 pounds of ground beef, drain off any fat, then stir in a can of refried beans, 15 ounces of tomato sauce, and a packet (2-3 tablespoons) of taco seasoning. Spoon the beef mixture into your taco shells and arrange them in a 9Ã13â³ pan. Once all the tacos are in the pan, sprinkle 1-2 cups of shredded cheese over the top. Bake at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and theyâre heated through. Serve the tacos with your favorite taco fixings and dig in. Sharpen Your Scissors. If your scissors seem like their blades have dulled, you can use tin foil to sharpen them back up. Fold a piece of tin foil in half at least 3 times, then make several cuts across the foil for noticeably sharper scissors.
2. Wrap Foods And Freeze Them. Heavy duty tin foil makes a great material to freeze things in because air canât pass through it. Foil will keep the flavor of bread products, casseroles, leftovers, and more in while keeping the smells from other foods out.
3. Prevent Oven Spills. If youâre baking something that might bubble up in the oven, use a bit of tin foil to help prevent a baked-on mess. Just line a cookie sheet with foil and place it on the rack below what youâre baking. If it does bubble over, any drips will land on the foil, virtually eliminating any messes or cleanup. One that caught my eye recently is [Free Assembly]( one of Walmartâs latest private label brands. Free Assembly has positioned itself as a more affordable and accessible alternative to brands like Madewell or Everlane, focusing on stylish basics that are easy to mix and match. Iâve only bought one Free Assembly piece so far ([this peasant dress]( but I have my eye on a few others, like this [slip skirt]( and this [button-up blouse](. REMEMBER WHEN The â70s Gym Uniform Strikes Back [An illustration of a vintage girl's gym uniform.]( I've always felt like I would like to meet the person responsible for the angular military-inspired rompers we were forced to wear as gym uniforms back in the â70s. (Iâd just want to talk, really. Maybe throw a bit of light yelling and finger pointing in there, but nothing crazy.) The amount of mental and emotional scarring I have from being forced to wear these uniforms is considerable, and theyâre definitely among the most mortifying things I can ever remember wearing. But the real kicker here? Plenty of people currently consider rompers like these to be quite stylish! But you know what they sayâone womanâs traumatic junior high gym class flashback is another womanâs modern fashion statement. Please tell me Iâm not the only one who endured this particular brand of public school humiliation? A FEW MORE THINGS... 𤣠LOL: If you canât stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.
