An easy way to minimize damage to your clothes, why you should avoid squinting, and more. August 4, 2021 [View Online]( Good morning! While keeping your software up to date is important, many people put it off because they donât want to adjust to a bunch of new changes. Iâve never loved change either, so I get it. Thatâs why I try to focus on the positive aspects of updates, like the 5 handy new iPhone features in Todayâs Good Thing. And speaking of positive aspects, todayâs Jilleeâs Pick features a cleaning tool with a very positive aspect: it does all the hard work for you. (Well, you still have to hold it, at least until my dream of having a [Rosie]( comes to fruition.) Jillee TODAY'S GOOD THING 5 Brilliant iPhone Hacks You Need To Know [Photos of various iPhone hacks.]( These lesser-known features and capabilities will make using your phone that much easier. 1. Write On Images. A feature called Markup makes it easy to call attention to something specific on a photo, screenshot, or document. Open the photo or file, locate the pencil tip icon (in Photos youâll find it under the ellipsis icon), tap it, then choose from writing tools, text overlay, shapes, etc. to write right over the top of it.
2. Use Spotlight For Conversions. Need a quick conversion of euros to U.S. dollars, or Canadian dollars to pounds? Swipe right on your phone to bring up the Spotlight search bar, then type in â20 euros in USDâ (or whatever you need to convert) and the result will pop right up.
3. Find A Phoneâs Owner. Found a misplaced phone, but donât know who it belongs to? Hold the home button to activate Siri and ask, âWhose phone is this?â Siri will respond with the ownerâs name and youâll be that much closer to returning it to its rightful owner.
4. Tag People In Group Chats. To get a specific personâs attention in a group chat, mention them directly by typing the @ symbol and their name, then press space to complete the tagging process. Once you send the message, the person you tagged will get a notification about it and your message wonât get lost in the shuffle.
5. Surf The Web Faster. To make getting to a specific website even faster, type the site name into Safari, hold down the period button on the keyboard to bring up a list of domain extensions (ie. â.comâ), and tap one to insert it. The list doesnât have every extension (there are hundreds of them), but it has the basics like .com, .org, and .edu.

Zippers can be responsible for a surprising amount of clothing destruction in your washer and dryer. For that reason, it's always a good idea to zip up any and all zippers before loading your clothes into your washing machine, or before tossing them in the hamper with your dirty clothes. Having zippers in the closed position is a simple way to ensure that exposed zipper teeth wonât snag or tear other items in your wash load. No one wants a snagged sweater! The same goes for Velcro stripsâyou can prevent them from snagging other items by closing Velcro strips before putting them in the wash. For added insurance against damage, you may even want to wash items with zippers or Velcro separately. BEAUTY Avoid Squinting To Prevent Fine Lines [A photo of Jillee wearing sunglasses.]( Simply making an effort to avoid squinting can help you avoid unnecessary lines around your eyes. While some of the lines that develop in the area around our eyes are unavoidable, not all of them are. For example, doing a lot of squinting (whether youâre out in the sun without sunglasses, or to see better when you aren't wearing glasses) can cause permanent lines to form around your eyes. I always make sure to look for sunglasses with UV protection when I buy a new pair, and I make sure to wear them when Iâm in the car or when I know Iâll be outside for a while. Wearing shades that protect your eyes from the sun will help you avoid squinting more than you need to (and we all know that sunglasses make people look cool, so thatâs a nice bonus.) And as much as I didn't want to admit it when I started having trouble seeing things up close, visiting the eye doctor and getting reading glasses had its benefits. In addition to helping me see better, I'm not squinting as much anymore, which means I'm not making those lines around my eyes deeper or more noticeable. JILLEE'S PICK Turn Your Power Drill Into A Cleaning Tool [A drill with the RotoScrub attached cleaning a tile backsplash.]( There are some cleaning tasks where scrubbing can't be avoided, and doing it by hand can be physically demanding (not to mention sweaty). So why not save yourself all that effort and a good bit of time by letting your power drill do the hard work for you? The [RotoScrub drill accessory]( is designed to fit into your power drill like any other drill bit, and it instantly transforms your drill into a powerful cleaning tool. The RotoScrub makes short work of scrubbing grime off of tile, grout, bathtubs, shower doors, and other hard surfaces around the house. The drill accessory comes with 7 reversible scrubbing pads, so that when one side of the scrubbing pad starts to wear down, you can flip it over and keep using it. Scrubbing tough messes with your power drill is the very definition of âworking smarter, not harder!â [See the RotoScrub on Amazon](.
