The easiest way to share photos between devices, a tip for reviving wilted produce, and more. July 2

The easiest way to share photos between devices, a tip for reviving wilted produce, and more. July 27, 2021 [View Online]( Good morning! While I’m usually focused on getting the best possible deal when shopping for a particular item, there are certain products that I’m willing to pay a bit more for. This is especially true of products that are backed by a lifetime warranty, like the four you’ll read about in Today’s Good Thing. And speaking of lifetimes, today’s What In The World Wide Web will introduce you to a woman putting her lifetime of experience to good use by teaching others how to make viral videos. (What can't you learn on the internet these days?) Jillee TODAY'S GOOD THING 4 Useful Products That Are Guaranteed To Last [Photos of products with lifetime warranties.]( Say goodbye to cheap junk, and hello to these four useful items with lifetime warranties. 1. [GreenLunch Stainless Steel Bento Lunch Box](. This handy bento-style lunch box is perfect for packing up an organized lunch for school or work. It has three different compartments, including two 3-cup trays and one ¾-cup tray. The nesting design keeps the compartments in place, and the locking lid keeps it all together. 2. [Darn Tough Socks](. This sock brand is a favorite among hikers and backpackers for their durability, and I’ve even heard that some diehard fans have replaced their entire sock collection with Darn Tough socks. They’re made of merino wool to keep your feet warm, dry, and blister-free, whether you’re out on the trail or just hanging out at home. 3. [Soft Touch Dog Collars](. If you’re tired of replacing your dog’s collar every few months, check out the leather collars from Soft Touch. They’re made of genuine leather and have a soft sheepskin lining that make them comfortable for pups to wear. 4. [Jansport Superbreak Backpack](. All Jansport backpacks are made from a durable and water-repellent polyester, making them highly resilient and perfect for the demands of everyday use. The Superbreak models have plenty of interior room for all your stuff, and a handy front pocket to keep smaller items easily accessible. Do you know about AirDrop? For iPhone and iPad users, it's far and away the simplest (and fastest) option for sharing photos, documents, contacts, and more with Apple devices close by. Here's how to use it: 1. Get Ready. Make sure you and the device you're sending to are in the same area, and make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are both turned on. 2. Press Share. Pull up the photo, webpage, or file you want to share and press the share button (which looks like a square with an arrow pointing up). 3. Choose AirDrop. Tap the AirDrop option to bring up all of the available devices nearby, then tap on the intended recipient to AirDrop the item. If your friends and family don't currently use or know about AirDrop, you may want to teach them how! When someone AirDrops something to you, all you have to do is press "Accept" on your device's screen. It's quick, easy, and cuts out unnecessary extra steps. For more information, check out [this page about AirDrop from Apple Support](. COOKING Bring Wilted Produce Back To Life [Celery in a bowl of ice water.]( If your fresh produce looks a bit wilted, use this trick to revive it instead of throwing it out. While I try to eat all of my fruits and veggies before they over-ripen or wilt, I don't always make it in time. But luckily for me, there's a simple trick that makes it easy to extend the lifespan of produce items, and even revive wilted greens. All you have to do is fill a bowl with ice and cold water, then soak your slightly sad-looking spinach, broccoli, celery, or other produce items for around 15-20 minutes. Take it out of the water afterward, pat it dry, then use up your revived produce ASAP. Not only will you save yourself a trip to the store, but you'll cut back on unnecessary food waste too. Not bad for an ice bath! JILLEE'S PICK Mythos, Heroes, And Troy [The cover images of Mythos, Heroes, and Troy by Stephen Fry.]( When I'm not sure what book I want to read next, I'll browse through a few current bestseller lists for inspiration. I was doing just that when I came across [Troy by Stephen Fry]( which was described as an “epic story of the Trojan War retold by Fry with drama, humor and vivid emotion.” I love books that are educational and entertaining all at once, so this seemed like a book worth learning more about. As I quickly discovered, Troy was actually the final installment in Fry's [Mythos trilogy]( which I decided I may as well start from the beginning. And now that I've read all three books, I'm glad that's the approach I took! While I enjoyed the entire trilogy, [Mythos]( and [Heroes]( (the first and second books in the series, respectively) ended up being my favorites. Despite the fact that I went into it with only a few piecemeal memories of Greek mythology from 8th grade English, I found Stephen Fry's versions of the myths accessible, fun, and surprisingly funny too. His narration on the audiobooks is also exceptional, so I would definitely recommend giving them a listen! [See Stephen Fry’s Mythos trilogy on Amazon](. WHAT IN THE WORLD WIDE WEB Lessons From The TikTok Teacher [Phones displaying images of the TikTok Teacher's TikTok feed.]( Generally speaking, most people tend to think of blogging and social media as something done by and for young people. As someone who didn’t even start blogging until I was in my 50s, I’ve always been thrilled to learn about other bloggers, influencers, and creators in the 50+ age range, especially because it doesn’t happen all that often. So imagine my delight when I recently learned about Helen Polise, AKA the “TikTok Teacher.” Under her TikTok handle [@themuthership]( Helen shares instructional videos teaching how to master the latest TikTok trends. From sharing duets to creating perfect lip syncs, Helen’s instructions make complex-looking videos seem easy and (dare I say) fun to make! While TikTok isn’t really my “thing,” I absolutely love that it’s Helen’s. Not only has she made a name for herself on a platform frequently associated with teenagers and Gen Z, but she’s also using her considerable talents to teach others. The internet could use a few more Helens, in my opinion. Do you follow any other 50+ women online or on social media? Reply to this email and let me know about them! A FEW MORE THINGS...
