It all came to a head late Monday night when the luxury retail chain filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. As part of the plan agreed with Gordon Brothers and Hilco Global, which have stumped up $75 million to keep the company afloat, Barneys will close 15 of its 22 locations — including Chicago, Seattle and Las Vegas — as well as the majority of its Barneys Warehouse outlets.
