Why my favorite recent trade was a near loser.

Why my favorite recent trade was a near loser.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Happy Tuesday folks! We’ve had quite a run on the major indices over the past couple of months. It’s actually been INSANE. SPY, QQQ, DIA, and IWM have all been soaring and may have some more room to run. Well…maybe not run, but at least crawl a bit higher. Earnings haven’t been too shabby—just sort of a mixed bag of beats and misses. The market’s likely to see some consolidation around its current level before it continues up or there’s any sort of major pullback. Let’s take a closer look at this…and how to trade it. ✏️Numbers I Need: I don’t believe earnings this week will have any major impact on the market. Sure, we do have some economic data coming out. ISM Services PMI, non-farm payrolls, and unemployment rate. But I don’t foresee any market-moving surprises. Stocks just need to catch their breath. If I sprinted uphill that far, I’d need a break too. I anticipate a bit of choppy sideways action before we head higher. The sort of bobbing and weaving that makes direction VERY difficult to read. Notice how it looks on the SPX chart. It’s known as bullish consolidation. No massive runs up or down, just a bunch of head-fakes. The kind of action that can sucker you into going long or short right then nails your stop losses. My god, that’s frustrating. Are there any trending stocks? Absolutely, you just have to look a bit harder for them. But this is the perfect time for selling options, something I do regularly in [Alpha Hunter](. ⚡Most Exciting Action: Selling options (credit spreads) is a cornerstone of profitable trading. I like it because it lets me profit even in flat, volatile markets. When stocks get stuck in a range, the higher probability trade is a credit spread. I don’t really have to pick a direction. I’m just betting on where the stock won’t go. And as the seller, I’m getting paid as the options lose value. It’s like collecting rent. In [Alpha Hunter](, this is our core strategy. BTW - If you want to get started with me right now, you can join for 50% off with coupon code “alpha50”! And it’s allowed me to win nine trades since July 12th, including 80% on MELI, 52% on RIVN, and 23% on UPST, as you can see from my [trading journal](. It’s a MUST-HAVE method for your trading arsenal. ✅Past Alert Update: Of the trades I listed, you’d probably think I’m happiest about the 80% win. You’re wrong. It’s the 23% winner on UPST that I’m most proud of. Here’s why. I alerted [Alpha Hunter]( subscribers about this trade on Jul 20th and closed it four days later. After I put on the trade, everything looked fine. But on the 20th, I noticed the hourly chart starting to break down. The trade was moving against me. I wanted 50%, but I had the discipline to take profits early. One of my golden rules is: “Never let a green trade turn red.” Folks, there’s nothing worse than watching potential profits go away. I’d rather get less profit than take any type of loss. My rules were set, and as much as I wanted to hold on, I followed them. Always do the same with yours. Never let emotions cloud your judgment - stick to your plan.
