The market continues to frustrate most traders on either the long or short side right now. Yesterday, for example, the tech index (QQQ) dropped $6 near the open but rallied $12 higher during the day.  It looked like smooth sailing until the final hour of trading when another ârug pullâ took down $7, and more than $10 in after-hours trading. Traders seem to have a short memory, and they brushed all of that off and decided to take it up again, nearly $10 this morning. If you love wild volatility, this is your kind of market! I might dabble in some of these wild trades, but I really prefer going after smaller stocks right now that have sound potential, no matter which way the market decides to go in the next 30 minutes. Yesterday was a great example. I talked about why a small gaming company that I am very fond of was an outstanding stock to look into right now. During the day, that stock went on a run over 20% without a lot of dramatic swings. I still think it has a lot of room to run, so make sure you keep your eye on it. Today, I wanted to share another small-cap idea with you. This stock got my attention yesterday as it flashed a strong âGamma Triggerâ signal on the 5-minute chart (which is my favorite time period for short-term trading.) Pull up Modular Medical, Inc. (MODD) on your platform right now and Iâll show you what I am seeing. In the chart above, you can see how MODD has been building a base of support around $1.40 and has just recently started to curl higher above the 20-moving average.  This is my favorite trading signal because it shows a stock that is naturally starting to build strength, and if I am wrong, it also provides a good stop-loss area for me. I usually will use a break below the recent support level as my stop, which I highlighted above. If it works out, you can see that recently MODD peaked near $1.80, which is around 30% higher than the current price. I think somewhere in that area would act as the first resistance level. If it manages to break past there, we can always reevaluate and consider possible next levels, but even getting to that level would be a big win. I really think this stock has a lot of potential right now. It is not on the radar of a lot of traders, and that could change very quickly. It looks like we have the market in our favor today as traders (at least for the moment!) Make the most of it, and look into MODD right away! As you get started with your research, here are some notes to help you get started⦠California-based Modular Medical, Inc. is a development-stage medical device company working on a next-generation, affordable insulin pump. Youâre probably aware that diabetes is a big deal in the medical industryâit affects a lot of people and costs a lot of money. But letâs look at some of the numbers⦠The American Diabetes Association says that âIn 2021, 38.4 million Americans, or 11.6% of the population, had diabetes.â It released a [report]( in 2022 that estimated the annual cost of diabetes to be $412.9 billion. âPeople with diagnosed diabetes now account for one of every four healthcare dollars spent in the U.S.,â the report noted. Citing 2020 data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, MODD [points out]( that 3.6 million Americans require daily insulin â that includes 2.9 million who use multiple daily injections (MDI) and 670,000 who use insulin pumps: (CGM stands for âcontinuous glucose monitorsâ) Of those who use MDI, research firm Seagrove Partners [has found]( that about 25% are âalmost pumpersâ â âmeaning that they have considered going on a pump, understand pump therapy benefits, but want something simpler that doesnât have all the âbells and whistlesâ.â Thatâs where MODD expects to come in. The company [believes]( that existing insulin pumps are geared toward âsuperusersâ and are âprohibitive for many to learn and manage.â Existing pumps have too many complicated features that most diabetics donât need. This increases costs and puts them out of reach for many. That hit home with me because my Mom really needed daily insulin, she just couldnât get over the thought of needles and insulin pumps werenât on her radar. An affordable and intuitive pump could possibly have made a real difference for her. Great Timeline and Vision Modular Medical calls its candidate device âMODD1â and [says]( it will provide âinsulin delivery for Almost Pumpers.â Here is a diagram: MODD says this simple design will enable âautomated, high volume manufacturingâ at a fraction of competitorsâ costs. It will also be simple and easy to learn for providers and their patients. For MODD1 to make it to market, it first must receive FDA clearance. MODDâs first FDA meeting was in Nov. 2019; its second was in Mar. 2020. The company went public in Feb. 2022. For all that time, investors have been on standby as the product was developed and tested. In January, though, MODD [submitted]( its 510(k) application for FDA clearance. Hereâs where the company stands now: Folks, if all goes well, MODD1 could be launched commercially before yearâs end, but any of these events could be catalysts for major stock-price action. And the company doesnât plan to stop there⦠Itâs already 50% through the development phase of âMODD1+â which will be a cellphone-controlled version of the device that can integrate with CGMs for algorithm-adjusted dosages. After that, it plans to launch what it calls the âfuture of careâ: MODD2. Hereâs how the [investor presentation]( describes it: The goal is for the device to effectively be an âartificial pancreas.â No human intervention required? Ask anyone who uses regular insulin, and theyâll tell you this: It would completely revolutionize their treatment and dramatically improve their lives. Leadership Team Modular Medical was founded by Paul DiPerna, who now serves as the companyâs chairman and CTO. Mr. DiPerna has led over 10 projects to FDA approval, including the t:slim insulin pump â a leading pump for type 1 diabetes â which he designed and took the lead in developing. The t:slim pump is produced by Tandem Diabetes â a company Mr. DiPerna founded and served as CEO of. It currently has a market cap of nearly $2.9 billion. I guess you could say Mr. DiPerna knows a thing or two about starting a successful company! In July 2023, the company [announced]( another all-star, Duane DeSisto, would be joining its lineup: Mr. DeSisto served as President and CEO of Insulet from 2001 to 2014, where he led the creation and commercial adoption of the Company's debut product, OmniPod, the world's first tubing-free disposable insulin pump. Under Mr. DeSisto, Insulet grew from an early-stage company to a market cap of more than $2 billion and was nationally recognized for its technology design and rapid growth, including being listed fourth on Forbes' "Most Innovative Growth Companiesâ in 2014 with five-year average sales growth of 47 percent. Mr. DeSisto retired in 2014 but is now serving on MODDâs board. I have to say: It inspires a lot of confidence that two long-time industry leaders who developed billion-dollar insulin pump companies are serving at the helm of MODD. Make sure you check out our full disclosure down below for the details on how we were paid, the risks, and why these results aren't what you'd call âtypical.â Just a quick heads up about this ad you're readingâas weâve said, even though we like the company referenced above, and all the facts we discussed above are true to the best of our knowledge, we are running a business here. To distribute this information and help offset the costs of maintaining our large digital audience, in advance of writing the content above, we received fifteen thousand dollars (cash) from Sica Media for advertising Modular Medical, Inc for a one day marketing program on August 7, 2024. Prior to this, we received twelve thousand five hundred dollars from Sica Media who was compensated by a third party not affiliated with the Company for advertising Modular Medical, Inc. from a period beginning on January 19, 2024. These amounts were paid by someone else not connected to Modular Medical, Inc. It might be obvious, but whoever paid for this might own shares and is likely looking to sell some or all of them at any time after we send out this information, which might affect the stock price. We may also buy or sell shares in the company at some point in the future, although neither RagingBull nor its owners own any shares of the company at this time. Also, keep in mind that due to the sheer size of our audience, if even a small percentage of people decide they want to buy this stock, it could potentially boost interest enough to hike up those share prices and cause a temporary spike, and the opposite is possible as our program ends, though that is not always the case. Now, diving right into Modular Medical, Inc might sound exciting. But remember, itâs like venturing into the wildernessâbe aware that there's exceptional risk involved in trading. Weâre simply sharing our non-expert thoughts by highlighting some companies we like that could use some help telling their story to more people. Weâre obviously biased in our writing. Weâre not here to dig into anything that may be negative about the company; this is advertising, after all! Also, keep in mind that if we make some predictions about the future, these are technically known as âforward-L00king statementsâ under the securities acts, so take those with a grain of salt.
