More than just a celebration

[Share your Black History Month stories with me ] {NAME}, Black History Month is far more than a celebration of the history and achievements of Black Americans, it’s a month that we recommit ourselves to fighting for the issues that matter most to Black Americans. Michigan has been represented by a Black member in the House since 1955, and currently as the only Black member representing Michigan, I honor those who came before me and vow to continue to lift up the upcoming generation of Black leaders in all walks of life. One of the most important things we can do this month, and every month, is sharing the stories about the Black Americans whose backs our nation was built on.
