While there are plenty of reasons why you might want to …  Today I want to share 5 reasons

While there are plenty of reasons why you might want to [attend a Breakthrough Basketball camp](  Today I want to share 5 reasons why you should NOT attend one of our camps.  This way, you can get a sense of how we operate…  So you know whether we’re the right or wrong fit for your child (no hard feelings either way!) 1 - If you’re looking for a free-for-all scrimmage environment where you just play all day... you shouldn’t attend a Breakthrough Basketball camp.  While we certainly will scrimmage, it's done in a controlled setting where play is stopped to teach and help players improve. We even set up special scrimmages with specific rules to improve different aspects.   For example, you might have a scrimmage where players aren't allowed to dribble. This teaches them how to use footwork to create space with the ball, improve passing, and get open without the ball.  We don’t like free-for-all scrimmages where players just try to go one-on-one to create their own personal highlight reel.  2 - If you just want a Babysitter camp, then you shouldn’t attend a Breakthrough Basketball camp.  While parents still certainly send their kids to our camps to get them out of the house, we are not a babysitter camp. Our camps are structured and focused on making sure players improve their basketball skills and learn life lessons.  Your child will get tangible outcomes from attending our camp.  3 - If you want a celebrity camp with hundreds of kids and fewer skill development reps, then you shouldn’t attend a Breakthrough Basketball camp.  There is nothing wrong with these celebrity camps hosted by famous college or NBA players/coaches. I think they are a great way to create a passion for the game.  However, we limit players at our camps based on the number of baskets and coaches available. We want (at most) a 10-to-1 player to coach ratio, and aim for even better ratios.   We do this because we want players to get a ton of repetitions and see improvement in just a few days. 4 - If you're not interested in life lessons beyond basketball, then you shouldn’t attend a Breakthrough Basketball Camp. We take our values very seriously, and our camp goes far beyond the court, instilling valuable life skills such as leadership, gratitude, empathy, and resilience. We believe in shaping well-rounded individuals who carry the lessons from our camp into their daily lives, making a positive impact both on and off the court. 5 - If you think that teamwork is overrated and prefer to work alone, then you shouldn’t attend a Breakthrough Basketball Camp. While you will learn drills that you can apply to your own individual practice, a key component of our camps is learning how to communicate and work together with your team--even if you don't know the other players at the start of the camp. So if you're only in it for yourself and don't see the value in developing teamwork skills too, then this is probably not the camp for you. --------------------------------------------------------------- Now, if reading those reasons didn’t dissuade you..
