Welcome to the Mailbag! We’ve received some great feedback on our recent articles and products...and I wanted to share some of those with you. But before we get into the mailbag... Here are some recent articles and videos, in case you missed them: Coaching Articles, Drills & Videos: - [“Non-Profitable” Approach To Youth Coaching]( - [3-Man Weave - Why You Should Use It]( - [5-Out Offense and Poor Shooters]( - [How To Raise Your Offensive Field Goal Percentage By 5% To 17%?!]( - [NEW Cutthroat Drill To Enhance Any Offense]( - [This Zone Defense Drill Will Increase Deflections]( Training Articles, Drills, and Athletic Development Tips: - [1v2 Zone Press Drill]( - [Why Weight Lifting Could Be Holding You Back]( - [Improving Your Vertical Is Actually Pretty Simple]( - [Do This Before Adding Moves and Fakes](  Today’s Mailbag Today’s mailbag is a little light on questions, but we have some stories and helpful comments from our subscribers… including some action on Twitter! Starting out with a nice email from a parent named Steve with a nice success story about his daughter… Hey Joe. It’s been a bit. Saw this email and wanted to just say thank you for all of this great content. Over summer my daughter worked with me and in turn a bunch of drills that came through your list over summer. She started CYO league for the first time on an established team last week and the new to us coach couldn’t believe it’s her first season and called her a ringer. She dominated a dribble and steal drill, shot on par or better than the top shooters, and he called out her defense as how they all need to attack their position. All from hard work, a motivated dad who used to play varsity, and your coaching email series. So thank you Joe, and a high five to your brother. Appreciate you guys for having this out there in the universe. Look forward to her building skills and jumping in one of the NY events when she’s ready. Cheers, -Steve  On a recent [Twitter post about the 2v1 Break Drill]( from Coach Jim Huber, a coach added a nice defensive tip for fast break situations... Our defensive teaching point is to fake and drop. Force a jumper or take a charge. If they shoot the jumper, we consider that a win, and we should block out on the weak side. If we force 2 or more passes, it's great as it would give your teammates a chance to get in the play. - Coach Josh Williams On another [Twitter post about Toledo's offensive actions using the Chin Series]( a coach asked about “Ricky Rescreens”: Have you seen them run any type of Ricky Rescreen after the initial back screen? Big fan of using Ricky Rescreens to take advantage of that small window when the defender loses focus. - Dhruv Mehrotra (Note: If you’re interested in the Princeton Offense (and Chin Series actions), check out [Coach Aaron Jennings’ video on the Princeton Offense]( Spencer Barnes’s (creator of the video clip) response: Almost all the chin series teams I have seen have the Ricky option off it! The slip is great off of that. Have even seen the guard turn around and set a back screen for a lob for the big!! For further clarification on “Ricky” terminology: In this specific action, a Ricky is where a back screen is immediately followed by a down screen. The same screener and the same cutter for each action. In a broad sense, this term might be used for other actions that include a screen and rescreen with the same screener and the same cutter. And one more comment on a [Twitter post about Drag Shooting Drills]( Hi, I need more of these team game shooting drills that represent offense. What is the name of this clinic? Would love to buy it - Mohammad Makki Joe’s Reponse: The name of the video is [Team Offense Shooting Drills That Build IQ - Snap Shot Shooting](. And as you’ll see below, Mohammad already bought the product and left a review!  Product Reviews and Feedback Here is a review for Coach Ryan Schultz’s brand new [How to Run Championship Practices]( Fantastic video! I expect to incorporate nearly every drill covered in this video at some point during the season. - Coach Joe And a review for Coach Nick LoGalbo’s [Team Offense Shooting Drills That Build IQ - Snap Shot Shooting]( The simplicity in breakdown , multiple game like scenario shots and the attention to small details. - Mohammad Makki Not only some nice words for [Rob Brost’s Man Left Defense]( but some very kind words for Breakthrough products in general! I love to hear the why for everything Coach Brost does. The format is easy to follow. The e-book is a great resource as I implement the tactics with my teams. When I watch the videos I feel like I am at Coach Brost’s practice and you can’t put a price tag on that for a young coach like myself. The quality of the product made me go back and buy [Coach Haske’s uptempo system](. I’ve been coaching for 5 years and been with BB since I’ve started, all the content and lessons I’ve taken away have made me and my teams so much better off. Thank you and keep up the good work. - Robert Cameron from Massena, NY  Breakthrough Basketball Fall Camp Update These are a great way to get professional guidance from our world-class trainers before the start of next season.
