Welcome to this week's Mailbag!   We’ve received some great feedback on some of our articles and products… and I wanted to share a few of those with you.   We also have a question for our own Coach Mark Brase on “getting big” in the post… as well as an update on our upcoming Fall Camps.  Before we get into the mailbag…  Here are some recent articles and videos, just in case you missed them:  NEW Training Articles & Videos:  * [Workouts And Drills You Can Do On Your Own To Get Ready For Next Season](  * [Correct This One Mistake That's Limiting Your Deep Range Shooting Accuracy!](  NEW Coaching Articles & Videos:  * [Is This The Secret To Building Good Habits On The Court?](  * [The Attack & Finish Dribbling Drill - This Eliminates East-West Dribbling and Gets Your Players North-South](  * [How to Handle the Rough Seas of Parent Conflicts](  * [The "Fake & Fade" Concept that Any Defense Can Use to Frustrate an Offense!](  * [Observe Another Team's Practice - A Great Complement to Coaching Clinics](  * [What Basketball Coaches Can Learn From Boxer Terence "Bud" Crawford](  * [The Wandering Mind - How To Coach Players With Short Attention Spans and Keep Them Highly Motivated and Laser-Focused](   NEW Product Release:  * [27 Day Shooting System with Paris Davis](    Today’s Mailbag  We received a great question from Coach Scott who wants to know what it means when a post player is asked to “get big.”   HI Scott- That’s a good question.  The way I’d describe a post “getting big” is pretty simple. They should be in an athletic stance, they want to have their arms out wide by their side, with their hands up (at about head level). In other words, they want to try to make themselves as big of a target as possible to receive a pass. It is also easier for teammates to find them when they make themselves big, and even more importantly, they can seal off anyone from behind them easier if they are down in stance and making themselves wide at the base and wide with their elbows.  This also allows post players to be quicker to the boards and be better rebounders as well.  Hope this helps, good luck with the upcoming season!  Mark Brase    A couple weeks ago, we sent an article [“How to Handle the Rough Seas of Parent Conflicts,”]( which detailed how having a detailed coaching philosophy can help alleviate parent conflicts. The article included 7 questions from [Jim Huber's Youth Coaching System]( to assist in developing your own philosophy. And Coach David Bishop had the following to say about Question #2 - “What is your coaching style, and how should you carry yourself?”...  Great share, thanks!  #2 is so huge, trying to figure out your style and not be someone else is so tough. Once you get that, it all becomes less stressful because then we can be at peace with the results. Thanks again!   We also received quite a few responses to Coach Brent Tipton’s [“Wandering Mind”]( article which included tips on aligning coaching with recent scientific findings on human psychology to help with short attention spans in players. It seemed like much of what Coach Tipton wrote resonated with several coaches’ experiences, including Coach Jim G:  Thanks, great stuff. I have had success as a coach and basically did this but I did not realize what I was doing at the time—but you are right it works. I will apply the same philosophy with non coaching learning in daily life as well. Thanks again!!!!!   We also received an exciting message from a fellow Breaker living near the coast of northwest Spain about using [Cody Robert’s Youth Athletic Development Program]( to help their 7-12 year old girls team:  I coach youth girls from 7 to 12 years old in a basketball club called Montrove, from Oleiros, a small village of less than 40.000 people in the north west corner of our country…  I was very concerned about how to approach the physical conditioning and correct development of my girls…. Looking for content related to this, I couldn't find anything that really focused on youth basketball players. Then I found the Breakthrough Basketball website, with a lot of content of my interest.  After finding the Youth Athletic Development Program and buying it, I felt impressed… We've started implementing it this preseason, when we usually train at the beach. The girls enjoyed the exercises and I was able to see that, while working hard, we were having fun.  In September, we are going to start training at the court, so I will apply a warm-up routine before starting the session and a cool down routine after finishing. Probably I will apply a hallway warm-up before every game.  Finally, for all of the things explained in this email, I rate the program with five stars. It saved me a lot of time and it seems that we will have very good results after using it during the season. –Coach Cabarcos  Breakthrough Basketball Fall Camp Update  In just a few days we’ll officially be kicking off Fall Camps season! These are a great way to get professional guidance from our world-class trainers before the start of next season. Some of our camps have already sold out, but you can check current availability by viewing our [full camp schedule here.](   Our recent camps have received near-perfect reviews. Here’s just a small sampling of what parents are saying…  If you want to improve your game, I highly recommend attending this camp –C. Musso  My son loved it and gained a lot of improvement and confidence from the knowledgeable and friendly coaches….thanks! –R. Lyons  I thought it was a great experience. She had a great time and really learned to improve her shooting technique and much needed confidence! –Steffany Drake  I noticed kids of varying levels of competence and experience coming into this camp. The coaches did an excellent job of making sure every kid was learning something on their level to improve their individual games. My child loves basketball but lacks a little confidence in his game, but the positive reinforcement here and the skills he has learned will help him become that confident player. –Ash  Closing Notes I hope you enjoyed this edition of the Breakthrough Basketball Mailbag!  I’d love to hear your thoughts on the type of content you’d benefit from in our upcoming newsletters… as well as recommendations for future products that could help solve a unique issue you’re facing!  So hit Reply and let me know!  All the best,  Joe Haefner Breakthrough Basketball            This email was sent to {EMAIL} because you indicated that you'd like to receive emails and updates from Breakthrough Basketball on 2016-12-16 05:42:39.
