IMPOSE YOUR WILL Those three words are the motto and philosophy that Coach Ben McCollum of Northwest Missouri State instills in his players and it’s brought them tons of success…they’ve won 4 of the last 5 national championships! In other words, take control of the game or situation, or your opponent will. In today's game, this mentality couldn't be any more apparent than with James Harden’s style of play. He's going left and he's going left HARD. You practically have to position your chest on the side of his left shoulder to stop him. Then a wide open lane appears to Harden's right and he takes it! He creates these great scoring opportunities because… His mindset is “I’m going to attack you with my best immediately. If you shut me down, I’ll counter. I'm not going to care what you do to me.” What’s pretty neat is that James Harden's long-time trainer Irving Roland believes that Don Kelbick, creator of the Attack & Counter System, is “one of the best” skills trainers out there. Don studied the best players in his 30+ years of experience, and he found that they attack immediately! They don't really care what the defense is throwing at them - just like Harden. You make the defense commit to stopping you. And by doing this, you find the defense completely out of position. Then bam… you hit them with a counter move. With the [Attack & Counter System]( offensive players make the defense read them! This can be somewhat of an unconventional approach for some coaches who have always taught players to “read and react” to the defense. When Don used to teach in this conventional way, he found that he unintentionally created passive, indecisive, less confident players. But by attacking immediately, you take advantage of the gaps and advantages before they disappear. It’s a mentality that creates aggressive, assertive, confident players that play better! I think Don explains it really well below with these words… “Our system is called Attack and Counter for a reason. It's not ‘Wait to See What the Other Guy Does!’ ” Now here’s a second layer to elite playmaking that you find many great players do… It expands on what we briefly mentioned above… the COUNTER moves. This is a core piece of Kelbick’s teachings… I like to call it MAPPING. Here is how it works when it comes to individual offense… - Immediately look for Option A. - If option A isn’t there, do option B. - If option B isn't there, do option C. For example, Option A - You look to shoot after catching the ball on the left wing. Defense takes away your shot… Option B - You immediately attack the basket by ripping the ball towards the left baseline. A help defender cuts you off… Option C - You spin off the defender and score at the basket. You would be amazed what these simple mapping tips do to your assertiveness and aggressiveness on the court. There is no hesitation! You put the defense in scramble mode. We even had a coach explain how the “magic happens” for his team with Kelbick’s [Attack & Counter Methodology]( Other Don Kelbick's keys are:. 1 - You are never more open than when you first catch a pass. 2 - Do what you do best. 3 - Make the defense read you. All of these together lead to the ABC mapping that you create for your players - each WILL be different depending on their skill. So first, always be in a position where you are a threat. If you aren't a 3 point shooter, get to where you are so that you can be a catch-and-shoot threat.. If you take it to the hole best, attack the rim immediately, then go to B & C…pull up, pass If you can't make the pull up jumper, your pass game comes in. Every player should know what their ABC is and their teammates' ABC is. That's when the magic happens. Even better, mapping can also be applied to all aspects of the game! In Don’s Attack & Counter Skill Development System, he shows you how to apply it to many areas in the game… - Attacking screens - What you do after a pass - What to do when coming off a screen - Triple threat attack - Moving with the ball No matter how you use the system, I think these are the key takeaways of the [Attack & Counter mapping]( - Players attack immediately (with principles that put them in position to succeed) - The mapping concept is an effective tool to use for a variety of different decision making situations. You can modify it to fit your own system and individual players’ strengths. - This simple concept gives players an effective tool and confidence in the decisions they make on the court. Even if you think "Attack Immediately" is not right for you, it really doesn't matter. If you ignore the mentality and just focus on the way that Don Kelbick teaches [skill development, footwork, and counters]( your team’s skills will still rapidly improve… If you want to learn how to use Don Kelbick's [Attack & Counter Player Development System]( to teach that assertive mentality that wins games…and doesn’t cater to the defense...he will show you how to teach the system step by step. Until Sunday, May 1, you can get it for $50 OFF. We also remove all of the risk for you with our 100% money-back guarantee. We don't want your money if the system isn't right for you.  All the Best, - Joe Haefner Breakthrough Basketball  This email was sent to {EMAIL} because you indicated that you'd like to receive emails and updates from Breakthrough Basketball on 2016-12-16 05:42:39.
