Welcome to the mailbag! We’ve received some great questions and comments on our recent articles and content lately.  Before we get to the articles and questions, we wanted to feature one of our Breakthrough coaches and make an announcement…  Congratulations In Order - Mike Hilmer!  3x State Champion Coach Mike Hilmer, and [creator of the Relentless Pressure System]( has taken a position as the Superintendent of Bellevue Schools. Congratulations to Coach Hilmer! We know he will make as big of an impact off the court as he has on it!  Zoom Offense Announcement - Two Bonus Game Film Breakdowns! We just added two bonus webinars that offer an in-depth breakdown of [Coach Nate Steege’s Zoom Offense]( (both the 1 Post Flow Zoom Offense and 2 Post Flow Zoom Offense) in live game situations. That way, you can better teach and understand the little details of executing the simplified zoom offense (2 Post Flow) for the middle school and JV teams in your program… While also covering advanced zoom concepts (1 Post Flow) for your varsity and even college teams! In these webinars, Coach Steege dissects real game clips, giving you a firsthand look at how the offense performs in live competition. He shows you what all of the actions and options look like in a game setting.  You will also learn counters and reads that players can duplicate, so they’re ready to put the defense on their heels.  [Learn more about the Zoom Offense here](   NEW Coaching Articles, Plays, Drills & Videos (ALL Age Levels):  [The Ultimate Sideline Trap Drill To Wreak Havoc On Defense And Cause More Turnovers](  [10 Coaching Decisions To Watch During the NBA Playoffs](  [How I Know The Zoom Offense Is Right For Your Team](   NEW YOUTH Coaching Articles, Drills, & Videos:  [How We Navigate Multi-sport Participation With Our Kids](  [The Hidden Benefits Of Multi-Sport Participation For Younger Athletes](  [The #1 Reason Players Miss Layups](   NEW Training Articles, Drills, & Videos:  [The Ultimate Finishing Drill: Use Back Attack To Improve At The Rack](  [2 Ballhandling Counter Moves To Control Your Defender](  [5 Tips for Changing Your ShotÂ](  [Become a Dynamic Dribbler With This Simple "Random" Drill for Elite Handles](   Today’s Mailbag  Question: Off-season Training Materials  Luc sent in this question about off-season training:  Does Breakthrough Basketball have any material on training off-season?  Jeff Huber’s Response:  Hi Luc-  Absolutely! Now is a great time to be looking for training materials. Dedicated players will use the spring and summer to make strides in their game!   Here are some Breakthrough resources that can help with that:  [Attack and Counter Workout App](  [Ball Handling and Footwork Workouts](  [Shooting & Scoring SystemÂ](  [List of drills by topicÂ](  Good Luck!  Question: Multi-sport Participation [Our article on multi-sport participation]( generated a lot of engagement. CoachCAnd asked about the costs and benefits of specialization:  [multisport participation] Jeff Huber’s Response:  This topic is a challenge for almost all parents. To start, I would say the fact that you’re thinking about this topic is a good sign!  I think the challenge is sometimes the eye test versus the data. The eye test sometimes suggests kids who specialize are improving by leaps and bounds. And that may be true in the short term. However, the data suggests that over the long term, specialization usually does not produce better outcomes.   That said, every kid is different. I think the motivation behind your choices are really critical. Are you making choices based on what your child wants to do? Or is it about some far off goal of a scholarship?  If they are having fun and improving, you are probably making good choices, whatever route you go.     Question: Attack and Counter Last week we shared [Part 1 of Don Kelbick’s interview]( on the Attack and Counter System. [Huberpodcast]  Listeners asked where they can find part 2 of the interview - [right here!](  There was also some good discussion around the [Don’s alternate view of triple threat](   Jeff Huber’s Response:  While many players are raised on the idea of the triple threat, it’s worth considering Don’s view.   Attacking is a mentality. Too many players don’t catch thinking score. This makes them much easier to guard.  The Attack & Counter System coaches players to develop an attacking mentality by thinking shot, shot, shot. Don’t confuse this with endorsing bad shots.  It’s more the realization that you are in the best position to score when you first catch the ball. If you catch passively, the opportunity to score is usually gone.  By catching the ball with an aggressive mindset, you’ll put more pressure on the defense.    Breakthrough Product Review  We continue to receive great reviews on many of our products, and I want to share a few with you today so you can see if they’re the right fit for you.  Here is a 5 star review of [Rob Beucler’s 2-2-1 Press](  “This product is a tremendous value. It does a magnificent job of going into great detail on the philosophy of the press, how to install the press as a whole and then break it down into pieces with breakdown drills, and also goes into great detail on how to adjust it and cover based on the press break look you get from an opponent. Simply outstanding!” Eric  Here is a recent review of [Cody Roberts Athletic Development Program](  “We started this with our High School program last season, we could see an improvement in many areas. It was easy to so how much stronger the girls were and how it helped them in game. What was also telling was the girls that completed the program and made an effort to show up and workout didn’t get injured.” Drew  And here was a recent email we received about [The Attack & Counter System](  “I have this fantastic cd and book from Don Kelbick. I use this daily from our year 7 (11/12yr olds) to our Seniors (15 to 17yr olds). A brilliant asset to have.” Andy  Breakthrough Basketball Camps  Check out these camp reviews:  [camp1]  [camp2]  Breakthrough Camps Starting Soon!  [Springfield, Missouri]( - May 11-12 - Grades 5 to 10 [Sold Out] [Mason, Ohio]( - May 29-31 - Grades 7 to 12 [Fairfield, Nebraska]( - May 29-31 - Grades 3 to 8 [6 spots left] [Harrisonville, Missouri]( - May 29-31 - Grades 5 to 10 [3 spots left] [Henderson, Nevada]( - May 29-31 - Grades 3 to 8 [9 spots left] [Hoover, Alabama]( - May 29-31 - Grades 3 to 8 [13 spots left] [Kingsport, Tennessee]( - May 29-31 - Grades 7 to 12 [Neosho, Missouri]( - May 29-31 - Grades 3 to 8 [Elkhorn, Nebraska]( - May 29-31 - Grades 7 to 12 [13 spots left] [Prescott, Arizona]( - May 29-31 - Grades 3 to 8 [Suwanee, Georgia]( - May 31-June 2 - Grades 3 to 8 [West Des Moines, Iowa]( - June 3-5 - Grades 3 to 8 [11 spots left] [Gainesville, Florida]( June 3-5 - Grades 3 to 8 [10 spots left] [Morristown, Tennessee]( - June 3-5 - Grades 3 to 8 [Orlando, Florida]( - June 3-6 - Grades 1 to 5 [13 spots left] [Coalville, Utah]( - June 4-6 - Grades 7 to 12 [Colorado Springs, Colorado]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Sold Out] [Evansville, Indiana]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Fargo, North Dakota]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Farmington, Utah]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Gilbert, Arizona]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Grand Junction, Colorado]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Sold Out] [Guymon, Oklahoma]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Lake Crystal, Minnesota]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Sold Out] [Louisville, Kentucky]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [5 spots left] [Nampa, Idaho]( - June 4-6 - Grades 7 to 12 [St. Mary's, Pennsylvania]( - June 4-6 - Grades 7 to 12 [Volo, Illinois]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [West Salem, Wisconsin]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Sold Out] [Andover, Kansas]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Windsor, Colorado]( - June 4-6 - Grades 3 to 8 [Sold Out] [Anchorage, Alaska]( - June 5-7 - Grades 3 to 8 [Sold Out] [Romeoville, Illinois]( - June 5-7 - Grades 7 to 12 [Cheyenne, Wyoming]( - June 7-9 - Grades 7 to 12 [Gulf Shores, Alabama]( - June 7-9 - Grades 3 to 8 [Rochester, Minnesota]( - June 7-9 - Grades 7 to 12 These are just some of the camps running over the next few weeks!
