As many as one-third of the people in Puerto Rico are food insecure. Dear Friend, The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is our nation’s most important anti-hunger program. Unfortunately, the people of Puerto Rico, who are U.S. citizens, do not have access to SNAP. They rely on a vastly inferior program – the Nutrition Assistance Program, or NAP. Please [call your members of Congress]( and urge them to support the transition from NAP to SNAP for Puerto Rico in the farm bill. As many as one-third of the people of Puerto Rico are food insecure. Yet, NAP assistance is significantly lower than SNAP. NAP’s budget is also capped, meaning that unlike SNAP, it does not expand to meet rising needs such as in the case of a natural disaster. [Call Now]( Calling your members of Congress only takes a few minutes. By clicking on the “Call Now” button above and entering in your contact information, you will be provided a sample script and talking points for your phone calls and connected directly with the offices of your members of Congress once you are ready. Be sure to make your calls when congressional offices are open (between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. ET). Lawmakers are debating right now whether or not to include a transition from NAP to SNAP in the farm bill. Please [call your members of Congress now]( and urge them to support a faithful farm bill that includes a transition from NAP to SNAP for Puerto Rico.
