Mosely released the following statement: "I stepped up to run for Congress to be a voice for everyday people in the Inland Empire who are struggling to access good-paying jobs, quality health care, affordable childcare and housing, and higher education opportunities that won’t leave them with mountains of debt. I ran for people like my mother, who worked day in and day out as a public school bus driver with the hope of her son having more opportunities than she did. “Over the past year, I have had the honor to speak with thousands of residents across the Inland Empire: single working moms who can't afford childcare, school teachers trying to navigate remote learning, nurses on the frontlines of the pandemic caring for patients, union workers looking for steady work, and many more." Mosely continued: “For the past 30 years in Congress, the voters in this region have had an absence in representation from Ken Calvert. Instead of helping families get ahead, his only focus has been serving the interests of his corporate campaign contributors. The people of Riverside County deserve so much more, which is why after thoughtful consideration, I have decided to withdraw my candidacy from the 41st Congressional District race. The recent entry of right-wing Republican State Senator Melissa Melendez into the race has resulted in the real possibility of two Republicans advancing to the general election in November. The stakes are too high for our region— and our democracy— to let that happen. “I’m humbled by the outpouring of support that our campaign for real working-class representation received. To the thousands of contributors who chipped in a few dollars at a time and to the over 25 local elected officials, organizations and community leaders in Riverside County that endorsed our campaign, all I can say is “thank you.” Please know that the work we started has only just begun. As a public school teacher and pastor in the Inland Empire, I'll continue to fight every day to give working people in our communities the opportunities and fair shot they deserve.” Sincerely, Brandon Mosely Paid for by Brandon Mosely For Congress [P.O.
