In an unjust and unprecedented move, the Tennessee House expelled two state representatives, both of whom are young Black men, because they dared to call for action in the wake of the mass shooting in Nashville that left three children and three adults dead. Justin Jones and Justin J. Pearson were ousted from their positions for nothing more than chanting in solidarity with gun safety protestors. Gloria Johnson, a white lawmaker, protested alongside them, but narrowly avoided expulsion. Brady stands with The Tennessee Three and condemns the actions of the Tennessee House â a body bursting at the seams with NRA money. [This injustice, following yet another mass shooting, is why we can't stop fighting against gun lobby-backed, Second Amendment extremists to change our country and end our nation's gun violence epidemic. But House leadership would rather use their power to punish lawmakers who speak out against gun violence than pass any legislation to prevent the next mass shooting.
