[ADD YOUR NAME: Condemn Donald Trump and his lies. >>]( Friend, This past weekend, the NRA hosted their annual convention in Texas (a state with some of the most lax gun laws and worst mass shootings) and once more, Donald Trump gave a keynote address rife with lies and gun lobby talking points. Here are just some of the ridiculous (and scary) things he said this weekend â and why theyâre wrong: Trump said, âI was going to say âheâs full of bullsh*tâ but I donât want to use bad language cause there are a lot of young [kids here]â The truth is, if Trump had any concern for our children, heâd care about ending gun violence which is now the number one killer of kids and teens in the United States. Trump said, âCrooked Joe has a 40 year record or trying to rip firearms out of the hands of law abiding citizensâ The truth is, President Biden has a 40 year record of taking on the NRA and winning. Biden helped pass the original assault weapons ban as a Senator and has enacted life-saving executive orders against gun violence during his presidency. Trump said, âThe Administration is trying to crush independent firearms dealers by revoking their licenses if they make a single error even in very unimportant paperworkâ¦â The truth is that President Bidenâs executive order to close the 'gun show loophole' and 'online sale loophole' is common sense and will only ensure those who engage in the business of selling firearms are taking the necessary precautions we require of all other licensed gun sellers. Trump said, âIn my second term we will roll back every Biden attack on the Second Amendment.â Now this one, we do believe, friend. Trump spent his first term doing mercilessly doing the NRAâs bidding and he surely will again. A Trump presidency is a threat to all the progress that we have made under Bidenâs leadership. The NRA spent $30 million to elect Trump in 2016 and theyâll certainly use all the money they still have (that Wayne LaPierre didnât use to buy yachts) to elect him in 2024. We cannot let that happen, friend. The NRA and Trump think that the American people are bought into their lies, but we know better. Thatâs why weâre calling on our dedicated activists to add their name to our petition denouncing Trump and his gun lobby lies.
