This is a horrific and shameful day in our nation’s history, and tragically, gun violence hasn't slowed down since then. Today marks one year since the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, {NAME}. One year ago, 19 children and two educators lost their lives when a gunman entered their classroom and opened fire with a legally acquired AR-15. Texas governor, Greg Abbott, called this horror 'incomprehensible;' yet, since then he has actively undermined common-sense laws and solutions that stop these kinds of tragedies. The Uvalde shooting is a horrific and shameful day in our nation’s history, and tragically, gun violence hasn't slowed down since then. There have already been 202 mass shootings in 2023, and yet gun lobby shills still refuse to do anything to stop the carnage. They have decided they are okay with the reality that children will be shot in school and families will be killed in malls, as long as they can access guns. Entire communities are being torn apart because corrupt politicians are choosing gun lobby money over our lives, over and over again. Enough is enough. Since the shooting, the families of the victims have taken their grief — a pain no parent should ever feel — and turned it into purpose by calling out the corrupt politicians and legislation that made the tragedy inevitable. We are continually inspired by their resilience and we are proud to stand in solidarity with them to end gun violence in America. We WILL continue to work for a world where no parent will worry about their kids when they hug them and send them to school each day. A future without gun violence is possible and it can't wait any longer.
