There's only so much the President can do. We need our legislators to take decisive action. {NAME}, Last year, President Biden signed into law the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act — the first major piece of gun safety legislation in three decades! And according to the administration, enhanced background checks included in the bill have so far prevented at least 160 firearms from getting into dangerous hands. But it's just a start. Gun violence is still plaguing our country. A year after both tragedies in Uvalde and Buffalo, there have been over 650 mass shootings and over 40,000 deaths from gun violence. No community is immune. As President Biden said, "Congress must do more." And the vast majority of Americans agree. Polling shows that Americans support universal background checks, waiting periods for purchasing guns, raising the age to buy guns from 18 to 21, and banning assault rifles and semi-automatic weapons. So what's standing in the way? Gun manufacturers, the gun lobby, and extremist politicians protecting their profits, instead of innocent lives. That's why we're working to elect gun safety leaders who will stand up to the gun lobby and fight to keep our communities safe. [This movement is powered by thousands of voices just like yours that are helping us stand up to the gun lobby and make real policy change.
