Sarah was a pioneer activist who persevered through personal tragedy and brought about change. {NAME} – today is International Women's Day, and we want to honor the women at the forefront of the gun safety movement. One woman in particular is one of the namesakes of Brady PAC: Sarah Jane Brady. Widely recognized as one of the leading voices for gun reform and gun safety legislation, Sarah was a pioneer activist who persevered through personal tragedy and who brought about change. In the wake of her husband getting shot in 1981, Sarah courageously stepped up to prevent others from enduring what her family had gone through. In the following years, she stood up to the gun lobby, was critical to passing The Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, and saved countless lives through her activism. Even though she passed in 2015, our organization still carries her name and we remain committed to honoring her spirit of strength, love, and boundless determination to make our country better. Sarah Jane Brady changed our world, and we’re grateful to all women who lead in the fight to end gun violence. We thank and recognize other women leaders, including Congresswoman Lucy McBath, who tragically lost her son to an act of gun violence, and Senator Dianne Feinstein, who serves on the newly formed Gun Violence Prevention caucus in the Senate. We're working to elect more women like these to Congress to pass gun safety legislation and keep our communities safe. [On this International Women's Day, will you chip in now to support our efforts to elect women gun safety champions?]( Happy International Women's Day!
