Join us in calling on Congress to pass safe storage laws. {NAME}, Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens in the United States. And it isn't always acts of malice that lead to these tragic circumstances. Often, unintentional shooting deaths occur when firearms aren't properly secured and stored away. And more than 80 percent of suicides by children involve a family member's gun. Having guns at home increases the risk of tragedy, but there are simple steps individuals and lawmakers can take to reduce these risks – including safe storage laws. Safe storage laws require guns to be stored, locked, and unloaded when anyone prohibited from possessing a firearm is in the gun owner's home – and two-thirds of gun owners support this kind of legislation. Yet, extremist NRA-backed politicians stand in the way of effective, common-sense laws. We need to take a stand and demand action. [Will you take a stand to protect our children? The week before, two young kids lost their lives to unsecured firearms. We see these stories far too often. Popular, common-sense safe storage laws can stop firearms from falling into the hands of children and save lives. It's time for Congress to pass these basic measures into law.
