They're untraceable and unregulated firearms that anyone can buy and build without a background check. That includes minors or people prohibited from owning firearms. DIY ghost guns are a way to skirt the law, and often these homemade firearms end up in the hands of the wrong people. From 2016-2020, nearly 24,000 ghost guns were recovered from potential crime scenes. But now, the ATF and President Biden are working to regulate the sale of ghost gun parts on the federal level. This life-saving measure is an important step in keeping ghost guns out of the hands of dangerous people.
