The New York Times: 5 Killed, Including Off-Duty Officer, as Gunman Strikes a Raleigh Neighborhood 5

The New York Times: 5 Killed, Including Off-Duty Officer, as Gunman Strikes a Raleigh Neighborhood 5 Killed, Including Off-Duty Officer, as Gunman Strikes a Raleigh Neighborhood {NAME}, Last night, a teenager opened fire in a quiet neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina, and murdered five people, including an off-duty police officer and a 16-year-old student. This is the latest devastating tragedy where someone who should have NEVER had access to a gun took innocent lives. At a press conference, the Mayor of Raleigh said “Tonight, terror has reached our doorstep. The nightmare of every community has come to Raleigh." In our country, this terror isn't rare. The nightmare will continue to plague our communities unless we elect officials who will do something to stop it. We are DISGUSTED, OUTRAGED, and TIRED. Every day, the news cycle brings us a new story about the latest mass shooting. Yet the gun lobby and MAGA extremists continue to advocate for even MORE guns on our streets. We MUST fight back and we MUST do it NOW. [The carnage will not end until we have leaders in Congress who will pass life-saving gun safety legislation. If you can, will you donate $10 or whatever you can to help us ensure those leaders take office in November?]( When individuals have easy access to guns, violent crime rises, and innocent bystanders pay the price. Police officers shouldn't have their lives put at risk by a dangerous person with a gun, and sixteen-year-olds shouldn't fear being gunned down in their own neighborhoods. [We must end this nightmare of gun violence in America, but to do that, we NEED a majority in Congress that will take action to pass gun-safety legislation. Please, if you can, make a contribution of $10 or $15 to stop the bloodshed and end the nightmare.]( Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and those affected by this tragedy. Our work will not be done until this is no longer our reality in America.
