[A Maryland Matters headline reads "Federal appeals court upholds 2013 Maryland assault weapons ban"]( Just last month, a federal appeals court ruled that Maryland's decade-old assault weapons ban was constitutional, helping keep dangerous assault weapons OFF the streets and OUT of Maryland communities since 2013. Maryland has one of the most stringent state-level assault weapons bans in the nation – that's why the gun lobby is on a mission to have the Supreme Court overturn this ruling. We're asking [20,000] of our supporters to make our voices heard loud and clear by letting us know: [Do YOU support a nationwide ban on assault weapons?]( [YES]( [NO]( This isn't the first time the gun lobby has turned to SCOTUS to overturn Maryland's assault weapons ban. In May, the Supreme Court declined to review the case because the lower court was still considering it. Now that the 4th Circuit has ruled in favor of upholding the ban, the gun lobby is once asking the Supreme Court to take up the case. And they're not stopping there. Gun rights groups have been clear about what their goals are:  "Our objective is simple: End all bans on so-called 'assault weapons' nationwide.
