I thought instead of continuing in Ephesians today, we could take a quick look at a simple verse or two about freedom. Because I think this is beautiful: Galatians 5: 13-14 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This is such a good message to us as traders. Remember, our goal isn’t to make money just to have a lot of money. I mean having a lot of money is great. And there’s nothing wrong with it, per se. But we shouldn’t be making money just for the sake of it, as Paul says, “indulging the flesh,” the bad parts of us that don’t follow God. We need to make money for good reasons: to help feed our family, to put our kids through college, and to help others! Don’t get me wrong… I love spending money on myself! I do it all the time! But it can’t be our only goal, of course. So celebrate your freedom today by thinking of someone you can help and give back a little. Because as great as our freedom as Americans is, our freedom in following God is so much greater. And the entirety of God’s law, everything he’s ever commanded us to do, is to fulfill the one commandment, the greatest commandment, “love your neighbor as yourself.” If you spend lavishly on yourself, you need to be prepared to spend lavishly on others. Otherwise, you’re wasting your freedom. Just my little two cents on some important things to think about as we celebrate today. One last thing before I go: Mike Burnick is releasing a watchlist of his favorite summer stocks. It can be yours for just five bucks. I think that’s a huge bargain. [Check it out here](. Hope your day is filled with potato salad, burgers, brats, and anything else you might enjoy while you celebrate!
