The Great Inflation Scam Explained By Emma Walsh, Managing Editor, Bill Bonner’s Diary This wee

[Bill Bonner’s Diary]( The Great Inflation Scam Explained By Emma Walsh, Managing Editor, Bill Bonner’s Diary This week, Bill dove head-first into the inflation story… starting with the Quantity Theory of Money, which tells us that the more money there is in circulation, the higher prices will go. The Federal Reserve has been testing this theory of late. It is increasing its balance sheet – by “printing” money – at a 17% annual rate. The latest inflation figures show a 5% year-on-year increase in consumer prices. That is the highest rate of inflation since 2008. But as Bill shows, those are just numbers. And numbers can be manipulated to tell any story the feds want. And the story they want to tell is the one where they all live happily ever after… while the common man drowns. Regards, Emma Walsh Managing Editor, Bill Bonner’s Diary --------------------------------------------------------------- [image]( [Larceny Disguised as Inflation]( As Bill has been showing us the last few weeks, inflation is here. According to the textbooks, central bankers should be “tapering off” their EZ-money policies and returning to more normal interest rates. Instead, they are ignoring all the signs. --------------------------------------------------------------- [image]( [Re-discovering John Connally]( John Connally served as Richard Nixon’s Treasury Secretary from February 1971 to June 1972. It was during this time that Nixon severed the link between gold and the U.S. dollar. There was an almost poetic justice in Connally’s later downfall... --------------------------------------------------------------- [image]( [Inflation Explained]( Prices alone tell us nothing. Autos… houses… stocks… butterfingers – all appear to cost more today than 50 years ago. But while most things have gone up… wages (and thus, buying power) have not. Today, Bill gives a simple explanation of how inflation works in the real world. --------------------------------------------------------------- [image]( [Bezos Blasts Off]( While waiting for the latest inflation announcement, Bill looks at an example of a crazy business strategy with a very bad ending. And we learn about Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos’ latest flight of fancy… --------------------------------------------------------------- [image]( [Elite Heist]( According to Bill, government is how the elite control other people in order to protect and enhance their own power, wealth, and status. The many are ripped off for the benefit of the few. And inflation is just a means to that end. --------------------------------------------------------------- [image]( [How to Plan Your Financial Journey in Two Steps]( Saving for your retirement can take years.
