This fight is deeply personal to me - as the daughter of a hard-working construction worker who was not unionized, I know what happens when workers go unprotected. My family depended on my father being able to work. When he got sick, the money that kept us afloat was gone. In the days when having a preexisting condition locked you out of health insurance, our lives became about sacrificing what we had so that my father could stay alive. No one should have to choose between a loved one and losing everything. I am fighting to make sure Washington hears that loud and clear. From nurses and teachers to operating engineers and autoworkers, I believe workers and their rights matter. At a time where corporations are making record profits, employees should make a living wage and be treated with dignity and respect.
