But if you’re already with me, [can you help us reach our May fundraising goal? We only need to raise $2,540 more by May 31st!]( [CHIP IN]( The first time I ran for office was in 2020, when I took on politics as usual and defeated a 20-year incumbent to represent District 85 in the Iowa House. I was motivated to do so because of my love for southeast Iowa, and my belief that it's time for Democrats to stand up and fight for what we believe in. During my time in the Statehouse, I stood up for working families, looked out for seniors, pushed for more investment in our public schools, and helped Iowa families and small businesses recover from the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19. I wasn’t afraid to take on the toughest issues our state was facing because I knew I was fighting for Iowans' best interests. Now, I’m running for Congress for the same reason: To fight for a Congress that puts people before politics. My opponent doesn’t fight for Iowans. She puts her own partisan interests before the working people of Southeast Iowa. She voted against improving health care for veterans and against providing formula to babies, and sided with her radical party leaders to vote against a tax cut for middle-class families. I’m not afraid to take on Miller-Meeks this November. I’ve faced an incumbent before and won, and I know that Iowans are ready for change in Congress. [If you’re ready to unseat Miller-Meeks and elect a leader who will take on the toughest issues facing families in southeast Iowa, then I hope you’ll take a moment to help us meet our end-of-month fundraising goal.]( Onward!
