[Piercing Aftercare: What is the LITHA method?]( Piercing aftercare is a very important part of the piercing experience. Remember, a piercing is technically a puncture wound. A needle is being pushed through our anatomy, causing trauma to our body. For those of us that love decorating our bodies, while the end result is always worth it, it takes constant vigilance to keep your piercings happy and healthy... Or does it? for more >]( Why Does My Piercing Smell Bad? [Why Does My Piercing Smell Bad?]( Pierced and modded folks - have you ever moved your plugs or nose ring (or any other piercing) and noticed a strange, distinctive smell? For most people, that smell is cheesy and a bit putrid. What is this smell? Do I have an infection? What you're smelling is actually... [Click to read more >]( [The Tea with Alley]( [Sip the Tea >]( It's an all too familiar situation for us pierced & modified folks... We're all decked out for the holidays, looking fierce and fine. And one of our family members makes an off-color comment. "You'd look so much better without all that metal in your face." The 2020 holiday season is certainly a unique one... Many families will be hosting their family get togethers via Zoom or some other streaming platform. We predict that there will still be lots of unwanted comments from uptight relatives. Here's how I suggest dealing with them! Today's Topics: - First and foremost, make sure you go into every situation with a positive attitude! You're fierce & modified and that's all that matters. Being cranky will simply reinforce the negative stereotype that pierced people are angry/aggressive. - If you're on Zoom and someone's being negative... Pull the "my internet is cutting out" card. You can even rub your microphone with your finger for some extra glitchy flavor. - If you're with your family in-person, don't ever feel bad about simply walking away. You don't owe anyone an explanation. Just walk out of the room... This could be a good opportunity to get another snack! - The best way to handle these comments is to have some go-to fun facts! Responding with education or positivity is a great way to shut down someone's negative-Nancy commentary. Be safe this holiday y'all! See you all next week. [Watch the Vlog Now >]( [Dear Alley]( Is my new nipple piercing going to rip out!? [Dear Alley] Alley S. BodyCandy's pierced pro & fashion forward diva DEAR ALLEY: 15 or 20 years ago, I got my nipples pierced. I was very happy since it really didn't hurt and I was back at work in 20 minutes. Fast forward 10 years and I removed them for a CT scan and didn't remember to put them back in until the next day. When I tried getting them back in, only one would go through. The other said, "no way." Fast forward to 2019. I missed wearing that delicate jewelry, and to be perfectly honest, wearing those personal decorations boosted my self esteem and made me feel pretty. I made a trip to the piercers (new one) and had them redone. And here is where my problem comes in. One side is perfect, the other only grabbed about 1/4 inch of skin. I'm afraid of catching it on something and having it just rip out. I also feel it may migrate itself out. Should I let that side close up and have it redone late next year? Or just have it redone over the current piercing. Frankly, I'm getting so much internal scar tissue it's not as painless as the first time. - Peggy  [ALLEY'S RESPONSE >]( Septum jewelry in a tragus piercing? DEAR ALLEY: I have had my tragus pierced for 12 years. I enjoy switching jewlery for every occasion and holiday I possibly can! My question is, can I wear a septum clicker in my tragus? I have been hesitant to buy the jewelry for the mere fact I do not have a septum piercing so the jewelry would be rendered useless if it does not go into my tragus piercing. Thanks! - Whitney  [ALLEY'S RESPONSE >]( Navel piercing & pregnancy. Any complications? DEAR ALLEY: My daughter has had her belly button pierced for a while now. Now she is pregnant does she have to do anything special to preserve the piercing? - Ann  [ALLEY'S RESPONSE >]( Update email preferences: [Manage Preferences]( No longer want to receive these emails?
