[Piercings in the Workplace: Are Piercings Unprofessional?]( Certainly, society can be cruel and unforgiving. But as younger generations continue to become a more and more dominant part of the workplace, standards for what is and isn't acceptable are changing. Whether it's guilt from our childhood, general anxiety, or just a general drive to remain gainfully employed, some of us still wonder, "Are piercings unprofessional?" [Click to read more >]( BodyCandy 2020 Gift Guide [BodyCandy 2020 Gift Guide]( Get gifting soon! This year, holiday shopping looks a little different and we've got you covered. We have some hot deals, amazing everyday prices and downright awesome pieces for you to gift this holiday season. [Keep reading for some quicky, easy gift ideas >]( [The Tea with Alley]( [Sip the Tea >]( Today I wanted to discuss a tough question... Are facial piercings (or any other visible piercings) still considered unprofessional in the workplace? As a pierced and modified employee myself, I'm proof that piercings in the workplace are possible! This is a tough one for me to be unbiased about. There's no one, perfect answer to this question, but there are plenty of things to keep in mind! Watch the video for more. Today's Topics: - It's not a great answer... but in this situation, "it depends." Are you in a customer service position or work in a factory-setting? If this is the case, your facial piercings might not make the cut. - Are you in the arts, in a younger-person-dominated field, or a remote employee? If so, your piercings will more than likely be fair game! - If you are wondering if you should remove your piercings for a potential job, ask yourself the tough questions. "Is this my career path?" "Have I worked my whole life towards this?" If the answer is yes and it outweighs your love for being modified, it might be time to take them out. - If you are worried about "visibility" of your piercings, cartilage piercings are a great way to compromise. Tragus, helix, rook, conch, and daith piercings are low-key and can be hidden by many hairstyles. - Don't forget you can try to wear a bioplast or flesh-colored retainer to hide your piercings. Septum rings can also be flipped up inside your nose (assuming you're wearing a horseshoe barbell). [Watch the Vlog Now >]( [Dear Alley]( To twist or not to twist! Which is best for healing? [Dear Alley] Alley S. BodyCandy's pierced pro & fashion forward diva DEAR ALLEY: I got my one ear pierced with a double cartilage piercing about about a week ago. My tattoo/piercer stated to clean up to three times a day & when doing so to move the hoops. They are still pretty sore & tonight when I moved it to clean it started bleeding a little. The other one is very difficult to even get to move. I do have swelling still too. I have a cartilage piercing in my other ear & don’t recall having this much problem. I have seen different piercers state not to touch or twist when cleaning. So which is correct. - Sherry  ALLEY: Hey Sherry! As I'm not a professional piercer, it's rare that I'd tell you to ignore a piercer's advice... But I think this is one of those occasions that you might want to get a second opinion. "Spinning" or "twirling" your piercings used to be the standard when it came to healing, but...  [ALLEY'S RESPONSE >]( Can regular daily activity cause my piercing to reject? DEAR ALLEY: I had my navel pierced for the first time just over a week ago. I am nervous of this piercing despite being very experienced with other piercings and healing them, as I heard belly buttons have a high rejection rate, and being disabled, along with current coronavirus conditions, I can't get out of house to get it re-pierced if it all goes wrong. I am salt soaking twice a day for 10 mins per session, I sleep on my side, and all seems well. But I can't seem to help moving around, bending down, crouching and everyday movement you wouldn't normally think twice about! It is still a bit red, but not too painful, and I am scared that this movement will make it reject. Any ideas? Love, - Claire xx  [ALLEY'S RESPONSE >]( How do you deal with the anxiety of a healing piercing? DEAR ALLEY: I was wondering how do you deal with the anxiety/time of a new piercing? I got my industrial done a week ago, and I really want to change the bar but know I can’t, and I’m EXTREMELY anxious about if it’s healing right. I’m constantly looking at it in the mirror, and asking my mom, she works in sort of a medical setting, and I am cleaning it twice a day with cotton swabs. Thanks! - Jordan  [ALLEY'S RESPONSE >]( Update email preferences: [Manage Preferences]( No longer want to receive these emails?
