Hello! Welcome to this week’s edition of the 2x2 newsletter. Check this out 1: [Next week, I’m hosting a free writing workflow webinar]( After 12+ years as a full-time writer and creator, I know how common it is for most “Deep Work Time” to become filled with distractions, procrastination, and overthinking… Join me for [this free class]( I’m teaching. You’ll get ideas and tips for improving your creative workflows so you can be more focused and less anxious about your writing and creative work. [RSVP here to get the link to join us or access the replay.]( 2: [Dram Apothecary](So, I love having something relaxing and enjoyable to drink at the end of the day. But I don’t want to drink alcohol every day. Every non-alcoholic alternative I’ve tried has been gross, or it still has too many carbs and calories. And the standard-issue fizzy waters that you can get anywhere are fine with a lunch sandwich on a hot day, but they’re not enjoyable otherwise. Enter Dram Apothecary and their [Botanical Sparkling Waters](. I discovered these drinks at my favorite local cafe, and they’re fantastic! Think botanical and herbal teas, infused into fizzy water. They have a more bitter and grown-up flavor, but they’re also zero sugars, zero carbs, etc. I ordered a case of the Lavender & Lemon, the Basil & Lemon, and the Citrus. They’re all fantastic. (I can’t speak for the Cardamom, but it sounds good; and I’ve tasted the Mushroom Cola and — at least to me — it was as gross as it sounds.) Something to think about 1: Boredom is a choice As you may know, I just returned from a 4-day backpacking hike in Colorado. It was phenomenal. We lived outside for 96 hours, with no access to the weather reports, social media, news, or even text messaging. These days, it’s not so easy to be bored. You have to choose to be bored. When 100% of our down time is filled with passive entertainment and bits of information… our minds have zero chance to be calm. When did you last have a moment to think without needing to think? Cal Newport calls this lack of boredom “solitude deprivation”, and it’s one of the biggest contributors to stress, anxiety, and a lack of margin in our lives. 2: Goals don’t happen on accidentIt is a logical impossibility that you can waste your money and end up wealthy. The same is true for any other goals you have for your health, career, or relationships. You cannot squander your time and attention while still somehow accomplishing your goals. * * * — Shawn P.S.
