Hello! Welcome to this week’s edition of the 2x2 newsletter. Your premier Friday email for leaders, creators, and decision makers like you who want to manage their tasks, time, and ideas better. ✅ Join me on Tuesday (May 2nd). I’m teaching a free, one-hour class. The Procrastinator’s Guide to Progress. [RSVP here to get your link.]( Check this out 1: [The new Keychron Q2 Pro Keyboard]( This is new “Pro” is the bluetooth version of my all-time favorite clicky keyboard (the one [I’m using right now]( to type this very sentence). 2: [The 80/20 rule illustrated]( A great example of why even if you can only do just the most-important thing it can still lead to better results than doing a whole bunch of lesser things. This is a great example of the 80/20 rule and why not just “any ole task” will do. Something to think about 1: Thinking of a Leica camera? (Warning: nerdy camera gear talk…)A friend who is also a hobbyist photographer recently asked me about my Leica Q. He’s considering getting Leica after shooting mostly with Cannon and Sony gear. So he asked me about the differences between the Leica Q and the Leica M. Here’s what I told him: The Q is more of an “everyman’s” camera. It can be fully automatic and you can just point and shoot with it. Or you can use it in full manual mode and easily control focus, aperture, and exposure all with physical knobs on the camera itself. That’s a big part of what makes it so magical and fun. The M lineup is entirely manual. It’s more of a “photographer’s” camera. It’s a rangefinder style — which is very different. But people who use it, love it. And, with the M lineup, you can change the lenses. (Whereas the Q is stuck with just its one fixed lens.) Two things that I think set Leica apart from most other camera companies (aside from Fuji): For one, Leica cameras are SO FUN to use. You just want to pick it up and take it and shoot with it. And secondly, the lenses have a unique look and feel to them that is magical. [After 5+ years of shooting with my Leica Q](, I am still getting shots from it that blow me away and I know it had very little to do with my skill. 2: Quantity Leads to Quality If we sit around and wait for quality it won’t come. Quality must be pursued. With your notes and research. With your YouTube videos. With your notebook or your journal. With your photography... Whatever it is that you are creating, you have to start at “not yet amazing”. But if you continue to show up every day and keep creating, then the more you create, the more valuable your overall body of work. Not to mention that, as you create things (writing, photography, etc.) your ongoing practice is the single greatest way to up-level your skills (which, of course, ultimately lead you toward a higher quality of work). * * * — Shawn P.S.
