Hey all, A huge thanks to everyone who so graciously pointed out a few weeks ago that today is the perfect day for a bonus edition of the 2x2 newsletter. Yes. Today is TWOsday. It is 2-22-22. As always, I've got a couple of resources, tools, diversions, books, tools, toys, or other types of recommendations for you to check out; and then, secondly, are a couple of ideas, stories, or tips from me. But... Everything you will find below in today’s bonus edition is from the “best of the best” list. These are some of my all-time favorite diversions, tips, from the past 12 years of this whole blog writing, newsletter publishing racket. I hope you enjoy! And I’ll see you again on Friday. Check this out 1: [Just a Man Ironing a Shirt]( Long-time readers of mine may recognize this fantastic YouTube video. It is, perhaps, my favorite all-time video ever. 2: [The Kalita Wave](nosim&tag=shabla-20) This morning, as I type today’s bonus newsletter, to the left of my keyboard sits a cup of coffee brewed with my Kalita Wave. I first discovered this deceptively simple pour-over contraption back in 2016, and it has been my go-to fussy coffee method ever since. Something to think about 1: [You Have Ideas]( I recently revisited [this article]( just myself and a few things about it stuck out to me: For one, the value of your team and your system of execution as being far more important than the value of your idea. Secondly, is the concept that done and shipped is vastly more important than almost done. Which is why we have to have a system and history of consistently finishing what we start... If we’re a slave to every single new idea then we’ll never have the focus to finish a single thing. 2: [Build Your Own Alternate Index of Ideas]( Speaking of ideas, when it comes to reading a book and taking notes, my favorite method for taking notes is the alternate index. (I could definitely be better at turning the Index and takeaways into digitized notes inside Ulysses / or Notion, but nobody’s workflow is perfect now is it?) * * * — Shawn P.S. Oh! Speaking of reading books, I recently discovered the joy of re-reading old favorite novels. It’s actually quite brilliant. I have always avoided re-reading old favorite books because I figured that since I already knew everything that happened in the book it wouldn’t be as enjoyable to read it a second time. But, nope. What a dummie I’ve been. Over the holidays I re-read Dark Matter, and there were huge plot-lines that I had completely forgotten about and the book pulled me in just as much as the first time I’d read it a few years ago. So, after that successful venture, I decided to pick up one of my original all-time favorite novels: Rainbow Six. I’m currently about 80% through and I hardly remember any of it all. It’s wonderful. Needless to say, I am very much enjoying reading through it again. Once I finish this one I’ve already got the prequel ready to go: Without Remorse (which I read about 10 years ago). The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
