Hey friends, Welcome to this week's edition of 2x2. My family and I just got back from a few weeks in Colorado to visit with family and stock up on Vitamin D. It was a great time away and, as always, I came home excited and thinking about the future with much more clarity. Today, as always, I've got a couple of resources, tools, diversions, books, tools, toys, or other types of recommendations for you to check out; and then, secondly, are a couple of ideas, stories, or tips from me. Enjoy! Check this out 1: [Out of Office: Europe vs United States]( It's funny because it's true. 2: Out of Office: Delete All Email Autoresponder Speaking of “out of office”, something I used to do years ago at my old job, and which I've heard of several folks doing as well: having your Out of Office email auto responder state taht when you get back to work, you will be deleting all email and that if someone wants to get in touch with you, to then email you back after you return. This way, you don't have to spend the first week of work back catching up on everything you missed (which is a 90% time waste). Something to think about 1: Solving a challenge: forward, backward, up, and down Take a challenge you are facing and put it into a question, asking about different angles: - Future: What would a solution look like? - Past: What assumptions need to be challenged? - Conceptual: What is similar that I can learn from? - Concrete: What is specific about the problem? 2: [Perseverance]( Perseverance isn’t about sticking with something no matter what — that is being stubborn. Perseverance means sticking with what we know to be right, even when it’s difficult and even when we don’t see the end from the beginning. Thus, stubbornness is more akin to being naive; while perseverance is more akin to having a focused strategy. * * * — Shawn P.S. While I was in Colorado last week, I finished reading [Project Hail Mary]( and loved it. It may be my favorite of Andy Weir's three novels so far. If you like science fiction, check it out.
