#BelieveintheBx Family, It’s no secret that 2020 has been a year. We have had to adjust and find new ways to still feel close to our friends and loved ones, while we cannot be physically close. Now, we are coming to the holiday season, where we will likely have to change our traditions and seek other ways to celebrate. We have been through so much this year. You may have an emptier table because someone you love was lost, or because you are safely protecting your family by staying home this year. You may have new faces at your table as family members have gathered, children and college students have been at home, and other relatives may have moved in to wait out COVID together. Maybe, you have found that online communication has brought you closer to your dear ones who you may not have seen regularly. We are learning to adjust and yet to find ways to be together. We show our respect of the native Indigenous peoples who lived on this land far before we did, and who need our support now. We are thankful for their rich culture and we work towards equity and social justice for their communities. We offer our gratitude to all of those who have been giving voice to race inequity and shining light on social justice needs. We give our deep appreciation to the health care workers, essential workers, and community members who have given of their time and their profession to help so many. We think about those who be suffering from COVID or other illnesses, those who may have lost jobs or security, and those who are facing hardships. I encourage us all to help where we are able, and support those in need of faith or support. We give God thanks for life and for the opportunity to generously give to others. Even when it’s not easy, we still give thanks. On this Thanksgiving, I wish you and your family and friends a thoughtful and thankful holiday season.
